I can understand why. Great truck. Saw one similar a while back for $2500. It goes by where I work so I know it is a dependable work truck. Tempting.

Old#3Fan,

I saw that truck in a couple of other posts, but didn't put the two of you together.

Again, congratulations! After seeing the pics, I think that's likely just the beginning of your awards.

Spent 12 years restoring a 53 chevy pickup to origional.Entered in shows here in DFW and can't compete with the trailer queens and the clubs that rig the outcome by voting for there buds. What a disgrace to the clubs.

you know Beaver 53 i heard that happens alot just look at it this way when the show is over you jump in your truck not scared of a rain storm or a bug or two on grill and if you like me i love driving my ol truck but the trailer queens are just that if it clouds up they gotta head for shelter and never really drive em at all and alot of the trailer queen folks are not even mechanicly inclined they send all there work out to be done were as us do it all .. go figure huh

oldno3 what a shame that the trailer queens can't talk to us old timer's about how and what problems they ran into when restoring there trucks or cars I love talking to a fellow restoration expert that works on there on truck/car./What a shame that car clubs don't see it....I respect a poor man's truck more than a profesional job.The poor mans truck/ car will always and I repeate always get my vote. DDROCKINRODS here in the DFW area is an orginazitation that allows care clubs to dictate who gets the awards. As far as I'm concerned if DDRockinrods is putting on a show I'm not going , cause I know it's rigged.

Het Beaver53,
I'm from Keller. Moved to wilderness 8 years ago and I know exactly what you mean. Even lost out in the '50 and older original trucks class to a '64 Chevelle SS. Figure that one!!

That's why I quit even considering the posibility of any award or trophy at shows and cruises. I just do it for the fun of it. I get to meet nice folks, see kool rides and get out of the house for a bit. But there's (as a general rule) too much politicking going on as far as "winners" are concerned.

One of my favorites was where a guy had bought an old 69 Rolls, slapped a Maaco paint job on it and a 20,000 watt stereo and entered it as a "fully restored 1929 Rolls Royce." Yep. 29. And the judges bought it and gave him best of show. I even pointed out the year of manufacture on the data plate under the hood, but to no avail.

That's when I decided that the best trophies were stone chips and worn tires.

Btw, olno3fan, I don't want to diminish your award. You have a gorgeous truck and you deserve recognition. My point is just that the world ain't fair and it ain't never gonna change.

ChevyAsylum,
You hit the nail on the head! Around here they don't judge at shows. It's "I'll vote for you if you vote for me". I gave up going to shows. I just go to ones where I know I'll have a good time and meet some good people. Let the trophy hunters have thier popularity contests. On the other hand, to Oldno3fan, congrats on the win. Looks like you deserved it. Does do the ego a little good to go home with some well deserved hardware.

Glad to see that I was not mistaken about the juding shows.I will continue to drive my 53 chevy pickup so people can live the days it was popular and listen to the stories they have to tell. Those are PRICELESS.
