Hi all, my TH350 is leaking fluid at the speedometer cable housing. The housing is only held in place by a single bolt and washer on one side which is causing it to seat unevenly. Am I missing a part that would allow the housing to seal equally around it's perimeter? Also, since I'm not even using the speedometer cable could I just remove the housing and block it off? I hope this makes sense (it's early). TIA

Hi 38, believe it or not my 350 is leaking same place on my 37 pickup. I'm not sure but IF I remember correct I don't think there is any kind of gasket that goes there. Its a "press fit". My guess is that it wouldn't hurt to put a little RTV gasket stuff around it. If you are not going to use it find an old cable or some type "cap" and screw it on it. Some of the old cables have been pulled on or something caught them and they will leak between the cable and the the nut you tighten up which I think is my problem. I'm really not worried though as I have a fellow who is fixing me a early model 700 tranny so I can have overdrive but also not all the late model computer stuff. Where you located? Don't see many 38 or 37 around these days.

You should have a small bracket like a dist.
holdown. There is an o-ring around the adapter
but I usually put a little rtv on the outer
portion of the adapter. also there is a small
seal inside where the gear is. Be shure & get
a tefflon seal for this. The black ones won,t
last.

Wrenchbender is correct. I had forgot about the O ring. I rolled under mine today to check it out and see if I can get my speedometer working again. It started acting funny after I blew the soot out of it one day The cable is all screwed up. To old to handle the "speed" I put on it!!

Chipmunk, Wrenchbender, thanks for the response. I suspected I was missing some sort of bracket. I could probably rig one up but will look for a replacement. Chipmunk, I'm in So. Calif., the other side of the world from you.
