Does someone know what year power steering box will work on a 61 chevy 4x4. Jeremy

My 63 K20 has one from a 77 K20 but it will need a mounting bracket bought or fabbed to mount it to the frame. Not a hard upgrade,

I have the same question for a 62 1/2 ton 2wd with a 235. The frame is the same as a 61. A 63 frame is entirely different. Does that matter? And does it matter if it's a I6 or a V8? Pardon my ignorance. What I do know is that a 63 frame is the same as a 77 frame. A 61 or 62 frame is not.

Will the rez bracket work? I've only seen them on 2wd models. I'm guessing it will work on 4x4 as well? Jeremy

The 63 and the 77 frames are not the same and the Rez bracket would be an easier way to mount the box. I think you'll need to use a 4X4 steering box though,

Well 48, you're probably right. I don't know from experience, just from what I've read. I do know (from experience) they started using the "ladder" frame in 63 which was a switch from the "X" drop-frame used from 60 to 62. What I read was that the same "ladder" frame was used from 63 to 87 on light duty trucks. I will search my literature for the reference.

I'm aware of the 60 - 62 X frames w/torsion bar front suspensions. The frames from 63 on up are simular in design but the 77 frame I was referring to has an indentation where the P/S box mounts to the frame whereas the 63 doesn't. That's why an adaptor plate is needed to retro fit a more modern box onto an older frame. I would think that the front portion of the 60 through 62 frames could accomodate that adaptor and P/S box just as easily as a 63 through 66. I may be wrong but I'm sure something could be fabricated relatively easy,
