This is my first time tackling a 3/4 ton though and need some help on brakes. Has anyone seen or heard of a kit to replace the drums with disc on a 68? If not, how much of a pain is it to swap to 1/2 ton spindles for the front. I can live with rear drum, but shes gonna need a complete brake system overhaul and might as well go with disc. Thanks for any help.

I don't know how easy it would be to swap the spindles, but the entire IFS crossmember can be swapped.
Also there is a kit to put 1/2-ton disks on a 3/4-ton. I don't remember who makes it, but pick up up one of the magazines and I bet you'll find it advertized by someone.

The balljoints are the same from'71-'91 so availability should be ok. The #'s are K6122(upper) and K6129T(lower). You may want to compare the parts in person to verify compatibility.

Thanks for the info all, hope I can find the right stuff, these manual brakes lack a little to be desired. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 5 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: May 2006 Posts: 5 | I have 65 C-20 that uses the 73 balljoints bolted to 73 disc spindles that I got from CPP. with upgraded power brakes and a proportioning valve and new tie-rod ends the hardest thing was getting the old balljoints out and the new ones inn. It took me about a day and a buddy to do it. Oh yeah you have to go to the 9/16's lug nuts
