I have a 66. I just got 5 new (to me at least) rims that the seller says are for a 60. I havn't actually tried them but the bolt distance measures to be right and the hole in the center seems to be the same size. They seem to be 'originals' since these have the clips and the ones that are currently are on my truck do not. 3 of the rims that came with my truck are 6" wide and one is 5.5" wide (measuring the bead area). These 'original' rims I just bought are 5".

So what's the standard? And are there any differences between wheels/rims from 60-66? (comparing 'like' models such as 60 C10 with 66 C10 of course) Thanks.

Any ideas on these wheels guys (& gals)?

Also, did any of the 60-66's use 14" wheels?

far as i know i think all the trucks came with 15" and above wheels i think a 60 chevy 1/2 tons wheels are different then a 66 1/2 ton cause the hub caps are different cause 60 rims have clips for the hub caps and 66 didn't have clips it just has 3 or 4 humps/nubs on the outside of the ridge that surounds the bolt holes i think the ones off my 64 had 6 in. wide rims (1/2 ton 2wd)

Well, then maybe the ones that came with it ARE the originals. But I have 3 that are 6" wide and one that is 5.5" wide, and no spare. Since I have 5 alike of the 60 series with the clips, I may just go with those. Decisions, decisions.

My 1960 has the original rims with the clips. Every one loves the hubcaps that go with them but they want them for their Corvettes.. go figure.

My 1965 c30 had split rims on when I originally purchased it some 20 years ago. I replaced them years ago as it was getting harder to find someone who would work with split rims. I did notice the split rims had a different off-set then the newer 8 lug rims.

Do you notice if the off-set is different?

I will keep an eye out at swap meets and also a few rim-hubcap places here.

My 66 had split rims and the caps are held on with spring clips fastened to the wheel. So I have been slowly collecting 4 wheels alike sans the split rim. I have 3.

OldIronChevy If what you say is true then GM screwed up. My hubcaps are the white with red bowtie. I wish I could post a picture of them on here but the Bolt won't let me and I don't have web space to link to.

Intersting this one, as I am sniffing about for some steel wheels for my '66. Are the standard axles a five or six bolt stud pattern? Might sound like a bone question, but I suspect my '66 C20 has been messed about with in the past

I had a 66 c20 and it had 8 lugs as did the c30. The c10 has 6 lugs. Sometimes owners convert the c10 from 6 to 5 lugs to fit later rims and also because they might have upgraded their brakes to rotors to.

a guy I know has a '66 chevy c10 that his dad or uncle bought new... I asked him about the wheels once... and this is what he emailed me(I saved the email) :

I checked on the wheels in my garage like I told you I would at the show...

They have just 3 dimples, not 4. They are the original wheels that came on the truck.

Just letting ya know.

On my '65 c10 - I have 3 15 inch wheels that have 3 dimples and 2 15 inch wheels that have 4 dimples. I've been told the ones that have the 4 dimples are earlier/older late 50's/early 60's like 60-61 year model.

Per the 1966 Silver Book (Engineered Vocational Equipment For Chevrolet Trucks), rim width on the 1966 C10 & K10 was 5.50" and optional rim widths were 5.00" and 5.25" with a 6-stud configuration.

Standard rim width on the 1966 C20 & K20 was 5.25" and optional rim widths were 5.00", 5.50" and 6.00" with an 8-stud configuration.

Standard rim width on the 1966 C30 was 5.25" and optional rim widths were 5.00" and 6.00" with an 8-stud configuration.

I hope this information gives you some clarity on your wheel dilemma and good luck with your project.

OK, I am going to post this pic (at least try to ) of my wheel & cap. To give you some info My grandpapy bought it used in 71 from Dayton Chevrolet in Taylorsville, NC. He knew the original owner and knew PO traded for a new one so he bought it. My grandpapy swears its the way it has been since 66.

It had split rims (long gone) with 6 clips and 6 lugs. The cap is white with 6 raised spots around the circumfrence and a red bowtie in the center.

I don't mean to highjack someones thread but since it was brought up and I am curious I thought I'd ask.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but it kind of answers some of the questions I had planned!
Just been under the truck, I have disc (rotor?)front brakes and drum rears. Both axles have the same 5 stud pattern. And the rear axle also has sdjustable coilover shocks. So I guess it has been messed with LOL.

I'll get some pics tomorrow when it stops raining (if it stops, love this country) and start a new thread, entitled 'Guess the component!) LMAO!!
