It's been very busy at work, mainly, so I haven't had time to check in as often as I'd like.
As a result of the insanity at work, I decided to take my one free weekend and get the heck out of town and shut off my phone for a weekend. The li'l woman and I went to her hometown and decided to examine the '54 while we were there. I extracted the VIN and poked under the hood and do some exploring.
Man, is she in rough shape. From the outside, it looks alot more solid. The typical areas where you'd expect some serious rot are rotted like the cab corners and some other places where water could pool. The inner fenders will need replacing.
My concern is the seam where the upper portion of the cab meets the lower portion of the cab. Am I correct in understanding that if that seam is rotting, then the entire cab is useless?
At one point one owner flipped the rear axle on top of the leaf springs for a low stance. There's rotted shock mounts and such, but the frame itself looks intact and solid, but I won't know for certain until we get into some disassembly and cleanup.
I've got some photos and will post them here when I get them offloaded later this week.

It just takes time and patients and of course the propper tools. If there is a better cab available that would be a lot faster, easier, and possibly cheaper depending on the price of the cab and whether you are doing the work yourself or farming it out.
