Went to my local tire store today to find tires for my '42 and they quoted me 120 dollars per tire which includes tubes and mounting. Thats 480 dollars! OUCH! Then I was looking around on ebay today and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...eName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT link. What do you think of these? Has anyone tried these tires and I wonder how these tires will perform or if there may be problems with them. Thanks. Chris

I'm looking for the same tire for my 37'. That's a great price and I like the tread pattern for an old pickup. Let us know how they are if you get them. Thanks for the link. M.

When I look at bidding on E-BAY I check the feedback. They have a feedback rating of 99.7% which is almost perfect. My 42 1/2 ton has 6.50-16's on it.Will the 600's work?.They look like good tires and if they will work I will buy from them. I have priced tires in the past and I got the same price as you at $480.00 for 4 tires.

I did a little checking. They are made in china by Nanco. Don't forget to add the shipping to the stated price. I found a site that sells Nanco other than eBay & have a request for prices submitted to them. I'll post the price in this thread when I get it. I couldn't find anyone with experience with this tire so it's a shot in the dark as to the quality of the tire.

6.00x16's should work. They're a half inch thinner and a little bit shorter.

I actually found their website first before seeing them on ebay. They do have good prices. There's more stuff on their site.
You might also try: Miller tires
Denman also makes a nice bias. GearWorks sells them. Denman on ebay

dad6timz, my truck had one 6.50-16 and three 6.00-16 on it. I was kind of wondering which to go for. I dont think either of these tires was the correct size for my 42 when it rolled off the assembly line....I think my truck was sitting on 15 inch tires when it was new but a PO put these 16 inch wheels on my truck at some point and I think I will stay with them. I do think I am going to go for the 6.50-16's instead though. darn....I sure wish they were made in the good ole US of A though.

I found my chevrolet shop manual for 42-46 trucks and it states the correct tire based on standard equipment was a 600-16 tire.Optional equipment was 5.50-18?,650-16 or 15 inch. 3/4 ton reg truck lists 15 inch. 3/4 ton special and long wheelbase lists 700 or 7.50- 17.Strange that I always thought that I needed 6.50 -16's.So any 16 inch will work? In another section they also list an optional 5.50 or 6.00 18. I am really confused.

Yeah, I am confused too. So why does my 3/4 ton have 16 inch wheels on it and why would a 3/4 ton have a 15 inch wheels while half tons have 16. Seems like it should be the opposite. Anyone have any insight into all this?

It might be easier to get a heavy load rolling with a smaller diameter? I am stumped on which to go with I have two 16" rims and three 15". I guess it will most likely end up being whatever I can find.

Yeah, I am gonna stick with these 16 inch wheels that a PO put on my truck. They seem to be in pretty good shape and they are not split rim....wouldnt the correct wheels for my 42 have been split rim wheels??? I was kind of wondering that and if that is why the PO put these 16 inch wheels on instead.

Thanks for checking. I am anxious to find out. Did that price include tubes too and are you going to mount them yourself?

Yes the price included the tubes. The shipping charges were about $60.00.I will have someone else mount them as I can't do it myself.
