I'm tempted to get an Avion truck camper but not sure if my truck will do ok with 2000 lbs truck camper c-10. The other option would be to have a canopy and a small trailer of the same age. Original 235 engine works fine with the exception of warm-start trouble.
I need to use it for buying trees & shrubs in California and somewhere to stay while I shop-around. Any thoughts, suggestions? If your slide-in is 2,000 lbs they that would be a no go. Most use a 3/4 or 1 ton for that service depending on the size of the slide-in. I'd go with a period topper and pull a small camper behind.

I'd suggest upgrading to disk brakes on the front before pulling is serious weight. IMHO the 1/2 ton brakes are barely good enough to stop an unloaded truck. That's why I've always bought 3/4 ton.
