The reason we ask for a LINK to a picture (rather than posting the image itself):

1) it affects our bandwidth (which is costly)
2) it makes the page download slower (which really affects people on dial-up, and we've got a lot of them)
3) some European users have to "pay by the byte" (and we don't want to do that to them ... especially after they've seen the image once already!)

And a side benefit -- you can post a link to as big a picture as you like and it won't affect the rest of the posts in that thread!

Sorry about that-I'm still computer stupid and haven't figured out how to move pictures around too well yet. I'll try to find someone who can teach people like me.

I haven't figured out what model it is,but the owner says it's a 1940. I've done a little searching and haven't found annother one quite like it to get a model designation from yet. Anybody else have any idea?

I'm not 100% sure I'll even get it yet,but it's looking pretty good so far. The owner will be losing his storage in a couple of months,so I'm hoping he'll be a little more open to an offer,trade,adoption,or? as his time runs out.I just can't come up with the money he wants for it,and so far he says he wants me to have it,but can't take less money for it. Maybe if it gets down to the "Move it or lose it." stage he'll work with me on it. If it was just a small truck,I don't think he'd have much trouble finding a place to store it,but this is a pretty good sized toy. I'm thinking of offering to build him a truck like my '62 one ton in trade for it,since he wants to trade it for my truck.
BTW-he also has a really nice race car hauler bed on a mid '60's Dodge one ton junker for sale cheap.

It is an E model mack. Not sure of the exact model, but like an EQ or an Esomething..

You got it-it's a 1940 model EH. The drivetrain goes something like this; 315 C.I. flathead six gas engine,5 speed main box,3 speed aux. box,currently has a 5th wheel plate,and has the 10.00-20 tires on Dayton wheels. ALL of the hubcaps are still there! It ran,hand-fed,when the guy I'm getting it from got it,and he says it sounded healthy so I'm figuring on a carb rebuild and flushing out the gas tank and lines,and installing a big gas filter.Possibly a fuel pump too.
I just (unofficially) closed the deal on it a couple of days ago. I'm selling my motorcycle to a friend for enough to buy the Mack and get it running. I'm planning to have it paid for in the next month,but might not be able to get it home until warmer weather. Plan is to go get it basically operable onsite and drive it to my brother's place near Reno,(about 25 miles)where we'll spend about a week giving it a good going over,installing new mirrors,mudflaps,fixing whatever wiring issues it may have,lube,oil change,and hopefully,if I have enough money left,installing a flatbed and building a good sized boom. Then,I plan to load my ol' 62 on and drive it home. Looks good on paper-we'll just have to see if I can pull it off in practice. More as it develops!

I like the COE version of this truck. Let a couple of them slip through my grasp locally, several years ago.

The engine's actually an EN 354. I couldn't find my notes on it.
Jarred;Thanks-I hope it works out too. So often when ya try to pull a deal like this together one thing doesn't fly and it wrecks the whole deal,but this feels like it's gonna be fine.
Spanky;I've only seen a couple of pictures of the COE models,they must be even more scarce than the conventionals. Ya probably oughtta scoop up the next one ya get a shot at. Looks like there may not be many left.

Thanks,guys-I'm so jazzed about the Mack I can hardly stand it. I wonder how long it'll take me to learn the boxes on it. I'm sure I'll get lots of practice in it driving it from Carson City to Reno,then to Elko. I'll be going through the same process with the Mack as I went through with my '62 Chevy and '57 GMC trucks-meeting up with others with similar interests,learning the in's and out's of the trucks,finding parts suppliers and sources of information,and getting to look forward to someday meeting some of the kind souls who help me through my trials and tribulations online. I'll eventually have the biggest family in America!

I plan to hammer out a ton of pics when I go after the truck. It promises to be quite a process.

I really like the lines of it too. There's no doubt it was made to work,but surprisingly,it doesn't appear to be too beat up for it's age. I'm told it's been in Nevada since new,I hope to be able to verify that with information from the Mack Truck Museum. (Who knows-it probably could have been driven down the main street of Elko back around the time I moved here in '54 or after...)

I don't know how much of the stuff is still around. The Mack was moved recently to my brother's backyard due to losing his storage in that yard. I'll ask him about the truck you're interested in,and if I have time when I drive down to get the Mack I'll try to find it if you'd like. You can't see it in this picture,but there was a nice Diamond T tow truck sitting near the Mack,but the owner wouldn't part with it-my bro tried and tried to buy it,but no go.
This yard is just outside of Carson City,Nevada,a place called Moundhouse.
