Can anyone tell me what kind of transmission I have? The numbers on the tran. are GM
30
3743368
k 170
There are 10 splines on the front and 16 splines on the tail. The shifter housing has the number
3741357. The transmission came out of a 56 chevy 3200 grin

If it is the stock trans out of a 56, it will be a SM-420 4spd with the 7.1 to 1 1st gear. This trans was used from 47 to 67 in the 1/2t to 2 1/2 ton model trucks. Hope this helps, Garry

A general web search for the casting number 3743368 resulted in the following:

http://1967-81camarocarparts.com/catalogPDFs/F2%2002%20transmission.pdf

That case casting number is for a 58-63 Saginaw 3-speed. Given the casting date K170, assuming that is a casting date, yours was cast in 1960.

I see that you know I asked this question before. After I asked last time I started looking and couldn't find one that looked like mine. They had you look at the bolt pattern on the side and all had too many bolts. That is why I asked again. I am pretty sure mine is a saginaw 3-speed now. Thanks for all the help.
