I was hoping someone can help me with just an idea on value. We have a 53 3/4 ton that we just pulled out of the shed on the farm.. It has not run for 20 years and is in very poor shape. I let a friend have the engine for his truck, now he wants to pay me. any idea what the engine is worth? Nothing was cracked. $100-$200 more? Also is the remaining body worth anything? $300-$400 ???? Thanks in advance for your help. P.S. I don't want to get rich on this just a fair price.

if the engine was in good rebuildable shape then $100-$200 sounds right. the rest of the truck's value depends on it condition you say it is in poor shape, so it is going to be one of those who wants it things. if you find someone who needs what it has then it might be worth $400 but i would say lower than that most likely. it is hard to give concrete values on things that are so often in the eye of the buyer. if a buyer really wants the body for parts or to restore it then you might be able to get good money, but don't expect to. it is a very hard thing to judge.

100 bucks is a fair price. The body can definitely be worth 3 to 4, if not more. Depends on the condition.
Do you have any pictures?

Then again, you might have a job or two around the farm you'd like help with for the truck. Then he's not out money and you get some chores did.

I like arnswine's suggestion. Trade for Chores is a good idea. grin

$100-200 bucks for an engine that turns freely is about right. If it runs, then it will be worth more (probably $300-400), but it sounds like this is not the case.

I really won't comment about the body. a fair price will depend on the amount of rust and what kind of shape it's in. Maybe if we saw some pictures... cool

Thanks guys for the help. I would add pics but I haven't figured out how to on this site yet. P.S. We rent the farm out so someone else does all that work.

I agree with the others the truck is most likely worth about $400 or more. Good luck
