| | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 18 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 18 | looking for ideas here. have 51 GMC 1/2T longbed. want to install stake rack. each side panel has 3 stake pockets, how can i support the upright board in the stake pocket in the front two pockets. rear pocket has bolts protruding inside at bottom from bracket. front two pockets are open all the way to the filler panel.
not sure if i want to drill thru nice new side panel stake racks to install a stop or not.

A 51 has slanted upper bed rails. Place your metal stake and weld a small flat plate the same angle as the rail. Drill a 5/16'' or 3/8''hole and bolt in situ.
or
Drill a hole in the verticle stake pocket, about 3-4'' down and place a 3-3.5'' bolt through the wider portion of the pocket.
