For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 200 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 200 | Dear Experts,
What sizes compare to the 1946 one ton truck? I mean would a fender from a 1.5 ton 1946 chevy truck fit the one ton and what about doors, hoods etc? Are there fabricaters out there that can sell me fenders, headlights, etc. Also what about taillights-how are they supposed to look? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | The cabs are the same on all the '46 trucks.. so are the hoods. That means the cab and hood from a '46 1/2 ton will fit on everything up to a 2 ton.
Hoods are the same way.. I swapped the hood off my '46 2 ton with the one on my 1/2 ton.. perfect fit. Grills outta be interchangable, too.
The only thing that I think would be different is the front fenders.. the 1.5 and 2 ton trucks have bigger fenders to accomidate the bigger tires.. i'm not really sure what size tires they put on a 1 ton '46.
Headlight buckets are all the same from 1/2 to 2 ton.
As far as what the original tail LIGHT (there was only one stock) would have looked like, it would have been on the drivers side, and had a T shaped bracket hanging below it for the licence plate to attach.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

The 1/2 ton and 3/4 tons generally have 16" tires on them stock (the 3/4 tons just have more lugs) and the front fenders are interchangable.
My guess would be if your tires are 16" or smaller, that the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton fenders would fit. If they're larger than 16", you'll probably need fenders off a 1.5 or 2 ton.

The truck will never come here and in june I will be going there to move it. This time next year I will start the work, but that gives me plenty of time to assemble information from you. | | |
