I have a very stock '47 3/4 Ton Chev. PU.
It is a 5 window w/ deluxe trim. The weakest part of this truck are the brakes, (they were weak when new) I have located disc kits for the 1/2 Ton. I would like to keep the larger spindles & 8 bolt hubs. THe runnig gear will be kept stock except for the rear, I need a higher road gear set which will be pretty easy to do. With luck I will locate either a '58 newer 261 or better yet find one of those GMC/Pontiac engines from the mid 50's.
Can anybody help me out with the front brakes?

I would rebuild what you have and add a vacuum booster to improve the feel. There's not a lot out there for the bigger trucks and the booster and a dual res. master is what I did on my 1 1/2 ton. Now I can actually get the brakes to lock-up with a load on if I so desire.

Welcome to the 'Bolt neighbor,
Scott

Far as I know there is no kit to put disk brakes on an AD 3/4-ton. The question comes up often. People have adapted disks from other trucks, so it can be done, its just a bit of work, including doing your own engineering.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...
