For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 32 | so i pick up my truck today thinking that it is a 1940 chevy pickup. when i started picking up the parts i noticed it did not look like a 1940 pickup com to find out it is a 1941. its a 3/4 ton pickup complete. the fenders are a little rough. i need both rears, and one front passengers side. the frame is all there. it has a volarie front clip and a dana 60 rear end. i also got 1/2ton running boards, a 1942 cab with doors which are in good condition, possibly build another car out of it, 2 hoods both in really good shape, i also got 2- 350 chevy 4 bolt mains, one set of 202/160 valves, heads and a set of 194/160 valves double humped heads.i also got new freshly cut glass. i payed 1000.00 dollars. let me know what you guys think. the parts are all there the back fenders are trashed could be reused but not really worth my time. also one front fender passengers side needs replacement. other than that its in really good condition. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Sounds like a very fair price. 1,000 sounds pretty good. The glass alone is worth $280 on E-bay today.
Don't toss your rear fenders. Steel is very hard to find. Even if they are in tough shape, you can do quite a bit to get them back into shape. If they are ripped, you can cut the cracks and weld them.
Without pics, it is hard to judge, but never look back on price. If you feel you have a good deal, that is all that matters.
When you are taking stuff apart, be careful. You may decide later that you wished you had not mangled parts while removing them.
Even the Volare clip...if it is in good shape, give it time. You may decide it will meet your needs.
Back in the day, I junked my 76 Nova, not knowing the rear end would have been great in my 41...but oh well, that was 22 years ago! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 32 | i figured the engines themselves were worth at least 600.00 togeather. the glass i figured would cost about 400.00 if you had to have it cut. im still not sure about the volarie front clip. i may change it out for a mustang 2. i work in the after market suspension industry for a local company so i figure that i could get in touch with heits for a front clip if i decide to go that route. sema is coming up so i hope to get some good contacts while i am there. i do have a dana 60 rear end though i know its a good rear end so ill save my 9" ford for something in the future. one question is for you guys who are building really hoped up motors are you boxing the frame in? thanks for the info. tim | | |
