For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 63 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 63 | Hey, remember a while back, there was a kid on here with a 54 panel he was trying to get going...? Just wondered how his project went/was going/is going??? Seemed like the motor was stuck and he was doing the king kong dance to get it free... Just curious... | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | rmillburn, as long as you broached the subject, I want to rave a bit. It would be great if the fellows that have had problems, posted HELP questions, etc, could do a follow up if they solve their problem, and let the rest of us know what the outcome was. We have all seen the "it just quit" or the "why are their flames coming out of my tailpipe?" or "it only runs when it rains" threads. Sometimes we reply with our best shot, hoping to help the guy out. What we need is feedback after the problem is resolved so we can say, " hey, I was right, I told him to check the muffler bearings, and sure enough, that's what it was!" or, " boy, was I all wet on that theory". That way we can all learn the solutions to the problems we see posted here all the time. I hope this makes sense...I have a tough time forming a concise thought!

I notice some of the posters do come back with feedback. I think others may just get their info and dash away.
That happens in other forums (agriculture) that I'm on, too, tho. I know I will stick with a thread until I get all the information I want or questions answered.
For some folks, hanging out at our Virtual Garage is just like that. A great place to hang. For others, they stop by because they know we have a great Stovebolt Collective here and they are looking for some answers. They do not want to be assimilated.
And that's cool.
Perhaps when you get some one drawn in, maybe you can add a "let us know if / how it works out" kind of comment ... so that you'll get the feedback we all need!

Thanks, Stuart | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 | I usually try to respond back to the thread after I try something with the status.
A) it lets people know what worked and what didn't(as mentioned above)
B) it allows me to thank everyone for the suggestions ('cause it's polite, and I like it when people thank me.)
That's just my 2¢. | | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 1,159 | Lots of different folks make this ol' world go 'round.
I find feedback helpful. Some people may be a bit busy, too. Or they can't remember where they found the advice (that happens to me regularly  )
