Anyone notice how the current Dodge Pickups look a lot like the final AD's? Particularly the GMC's with the large bar grills.

Gotta go w/ Mary Ann. Ginger had some miles on her, had gotten a bit ripe, and looks like she smelled like an ashtray.

I like em all. Even the new ones. I buy GMC's for new trucks but I like the Chevies this year, they remind me of the 60/61's. Which is one of my favorites although not many other people like them. A clean '67 is almost a piece of rolling art. I have a 90 Sportside which I really dig. They look like little hotrods. I think the sportside will be a collectible in a couple decades. I think the 41-46's are great, but I think the 39/40 are just a little nicer/cleaner in the grille area. The AD's are simply classics. I want a 57 GMC one of these days. Beautiful truck. 73-87 is probably my least favorite but a clean jacked up 4x4 is still pretty nice.
And to the guy that thinks the new F*** is it!-I really can't believe that. To me it Screams NISSAN! Especially from the back. Sorry, but I'd take ANY GM truck over ANY competing brand from any era, year for year. GM just gets it more right more often.

With out a doubt the Art Deco trucks fm 41-46 were the best. I may be a little biased though.

well 41, that is a good yr,, the yr I was born, you might be on to something, I can understand why some of you guys dont drive them on the 8 or 9 hi-way lanes that you have,, you can get your butt ran over in a new york min............

I think trucks and cars stopped 'looking good' when they started to loose their appealing round female shapes and contours.
Something very attractive that crawls under your skin got replaced with something that had more male and hard outlines which is arguably more impressive maybe.

Maybe the question should be: Which truck year(s) do you like and which do you like to actually drive daily.

I love the Art Deco and earlier Chevy trucks, but they are a bit too small for comfort as a daily driver. Nothing will hopefully ever seperate me from my 52.

After the 60s car and truck designs changed radically and had less recognizable character.
Interesting how style and design of vehicles changed with the fast changing times.

Art and craftsmanship or the lack of it, seems always like a mirror or meter of society and the direction it is going.

I think that we all like old trucks, some better then other, we may even like a better one then we own but it was what we could get or afford..seems like most younger folks like the 60 to 72, the older folks like the older ones and then it could be a mix of all of them...most of us probably drive the one that we like the most,, the best deal is that because of our trucks and this site we all are winners.. we meet other good folks, talk about trucks or hope to meet some from our site,, as Foster would say,, well cowboy, it dont get no better then this......thanks for all the response,, Fred

How can you guys even think about saying "that Chevy truck is ugly"? Its a sin! Shame on you!

I had stated in a earlier post that the '72 was the last good looking truck, but the earlier ones look better. To be more specific, I think the best looking are the "Art Deco" style of '41-'46. I also like the "Task Force" style from '55-'59 almost as much. I drive a '66, and the styling is OK, but it ain't as nice as the pre 1960 models.

By the way, Mary Ann is foxier than Ginger, and most of you agree.

1947.2-1953. The big "five-bar " grille does it for me, especially when chromed. Easily the friendliest, happiest "face" ever designed for a truck.

Mary Ann was always my favourite.

Sorry Rusty Rod, gotta disagree, I prefer the tall redhead over the short brunette in your other example. Give you points, it took me a minute to place which two girls from which TV show you were talking about.

Of course, my favourite two girls are Isabella and Mackenzie-my daughters.

listen, the last good truck was the 72, cause after that they got those ugly fat bumpers. The 2001 Silverado in black ext. cab with capt. chairs is awesome, but then Chevy went with those ugly catwoman eyes for headlights.
But my favorite by far is the 1949 with all those curves. Speaking of which Mary Ann by far. It always seemed to me that Ginger would charge me, but my favorite in this T.V. catogory would be Jeannie, talk about curves, hubba hubba hubba!
I'd only need one wish, whoa boy, just the thought can get me banned from heaven! By the way if you saw 1 Million B.C. with Rachel Welch, and I was only 9 at the time, it was the first time I couldn't stand up and leave right after the showing for fear of breaking something. I'm starting to rile myself up here boys, gotta go!

im a young one here. my first love was when i saw the 72 SWB in Dazed and confused(1993)... i was 14 and that has been a favorite of mine since. but as the years have gone by I have noticed the other models and have become partial to the 1955 1st series. but as far as im concerned if its 1941-1972 you cant go wrong.

All Chevy and GMC trucks, like women (and for women, men, I suppose), possess a kind of inherent beauty--some more than others. So it comes down to the individual and his or her personal taste in styling, accoutremonts, cosmetics, sppearance on the road, capacity to perform---and there I will stop. This is a family site, but you get my drift.

The older the better!!! Anything with the lights on top of the fenders is great! I love the Art Deco, Advance Design, and Task Force eras. I like the early 60's with the big brows, but after that it was all down hill.

Mary Ann or Ginger?... Yes... Definitely!

I like them all... from 36 to about 53 or 55 (whenever they changed the front end).

Although, the late sixties-'72 models look pretty sharp.

I guess I need to weigh in. I love all the 37 to 53 pickups. Of all those years, my dream truck would be a 38, stock looking with a hopped 292, T-5 and 3.40's rear. The 39's and 40's are great as well and the AD's are classic. The Task Forces are cool too, but not my favorites. I am not so hot on the 60's either and the 67 to 72's are probably the last that I would consider classic. Things have been kinda blah since then, but I think that the GM trucks are by far the best looking trucks on the road. Even with the goofy headlights, you gotta love a 3/4 ton, 4x4, crew cab short bed with Duramax and Allison power, a good heavy rear bumper, and likewise a heavy brush guard in front. We have a 350 powered 99 rigged up this way and it performs perfect for us. It will outwork anything I have ever owned, haul us and the kids in comfort, is still easy for my wife to park when she goes to town, and looks good in pewter(?)paint.

Going out on a limb here so I hope some others'll rally round: for me it's Ginger all the way, even though she has slinky fleetsides and Mary Ann has dem curvy stepsides. Ginger's all legs and looks ready to be really baaad. Mary Ann's all sweet and girl-next-door--you grew up next to her and just don't think of her in That Way. (Except a lot of you guys do! You weirdos! )

Trucks? Oh, 54 and 55 1st w/chrome grille. Fat fenders AND fat lips...

Where your hands go is all contingent on how much she's had to drink and what you're into!

Altho.. shes gotta be pushing 80 by now.. with the effects of gravity "down" might be the only place you could find anything to put your hands on!

As for the girls Mary Ann was and still is a babe.
When it comes to trucks My favorites are the 64-66's and 58-59's but all chevys look good to me up to about 87. I wouldn't hit a bull in the a#% with any of these new trucks...There all hi tech aluminum and plastic yuppie wannabe sh%$. Graygander

I'm going to catch alot of flack for this, but if I had to pick the model year Chevys I liked the least it would be the Task Force years.

Actually, I kind of lump the Task Force years in with the new stuff.

Just something about that "space age" look they try to go for every now and then and go way overboard with it.

Now that's a face only a mother could love! Must have been the year a Dodge employee defected to the GM design crew.

The ONLY GM trucks that are not the best are the models that started in 73. They made Fords look good. :p

They did go a little overboard with the "SPACED AGE" styling in 1960-1961. They must of had the designer of the 1958 Oldsmobile do them. http://www.1motormart.com/gallery/58olds02.jpg However, the '60-'61 GM Trucks still look better than the DOG and FURD trucks.

Fumblin, that would be the 60-61 model years for the jet intake hood vents. Many owners of those years that I know swap the hoods out with 62-66.
