I am looking for a good air conditioning system with defrost for my 52 3100. I have seen several different A/C systems for my truck but I have no idea how each one performs. Has anyone used a classic auto air unit, if so how does it perform? Any suggestions on a good a/c system would be greatly appreciated.

I used Vintage air on my 70 & I,m not real crazy about it. The installation was flimsy & I had to improvise to get it more stable. One of the control switches broke before I was done with it. They sent me a new one but it set the project back a few days.

I used an Old Air system that I liked because the evaporater followed the profile of the bottom of the dash. Installation wasen't to bad. Works good until it gets near 100 then it seams to fall off a bit. It also has defrost and heat.

Oh I put it in my 53.

I put in a Hot Rod Air unit in first, man I hated that thing, tech support sucked, they said it worked in my truck but didn't, parts missing, took 6 weeks to get my controller back from them upgrading it, and it still wasn't right then had to send it back, they wouldn't call me back, oh yea and the unit sucked too.

I then went with an Old Air system it works great, I agree with 235, it starts to loose something around 100. but that's Texas for you.

I want to put a/c in my truck a '56 chevy but I want a good system too. The only one that seems to make the cut is the Old Air system according to these posts. Has anyone else had good luck with Old Air stuff? Would anyone reccomend it or any other brand?

Bowtie Max put an Old Air Products a/c in his '55. He wrote a tech tip on it for us.

Feel free to do a Google search from the menu, too - "air conditioning" - there are a lot of folks who have a/c in their Bolt. Some of the names may be familar and you can contact them directly (if there's not much response to this thread).
