We want to apologize for the lengthy outage of the Stovebolt site. It couldn't possibly have come at a worse time. I was on vacation in North Carolina (and on a very slow dialup connection besides) when the primary boot drive on the server failed catastrophically. It wasn't possible to save the data or the OS.

Our gracious sponsor, American Classic, paid all the expenses to have the professionals at CI host (our ISP) remove the drives, install new ones, configure the RAID setup so this will never happen again, and install FreeBSD 5.4. Please show American Classic your appreciation by shopping with them when you can. Without them, it would have been several more days before we could have restored the server.

Unfortunately, when their work was completed we were still left with the need to install all the necessary applications, restore the data and reconfigure the server. This is quite a time consuming process, which I began remotely while still in NC and am still working on as we speak. Email capability was restored first, and then I began working on the web server.

We still have a way to go, but the basic functionality should be available to you. (Please let me know right away if something you want to do isn't working. My email address is geek@stovebolt.com.)

Hopefully we won't have this problem again any time soon. We will look into ways to ameliorate this sort of problem in the future, but it's difficult when you can't have backup servers that can be brought online in an emergency.

Thanx for your efforts, Paul, and the same goes for the American Classics guys and, of course, John and Peg.

Some of us probably actually got a chance to get away from the keyboard and work on the trucks.

It's great to see "The Bolt" back online. I am glad that it was a hardware problem and not a family emergency or personal tragedy of some sorts. A big thank you to everyone involved.

I had the shakes all weekend.....thank goodness it is back up. The worst crossed my mind. Not sure how I will get my truck put back together without this resource. I think I'll donate again!

Dang near had to be hospitalized. Had the shakes, cold sweats and very upset stomach.

Thanks so much for the amount of time and effort you must have had to put in.

I started to build a boat, gather the animals 2 by 2. Surely the world was ending, but alas due to the great and wonderful wizards of computerdom all is saved. I feel so much better. Thanks geeks one and all.

I don't think you owe anyone an apology! These things happen! wink

I'm very happy things are back to normal. Thank you, Paul, American Classics and John & Peg!

Now, I'll have to get used to staying up till midnight every night again! grin

Paul, all the staff, and American Classic,

Thank you so much!

It is amazing how we take for granted the fact that this site will be here every day. I can't tell you how much I rely on this site for valuable information. I have met some great people through this site, Hovart, Houston54 and so many others. There is no where else I could tap into this much experience and help from so many people with the touch of a few key strokes. I can't think of too many mechanincs that could set around and listen to me pondering how I might be able to do something or change something out.

Hope you never go away.

Thanks again for the best site,

Dan Dilts

I saw a post on one of the other sites from Peg about this site being down, that was helpful. I started visiting this site a month or two ago and since have relied on the information from everybody for my truck repairs . Thanks for the hard work from all of you to get this going again.
I will make sure to place a few extra orders from American Classics.

I was worried, I had just signed up and was known to ya'll for such a short time as "boltless wonder". Then the next day, NOTHING, I thought OH MY I've killed it LOL. Now the bolt is back and so am I. Thanks to all who care for this great site, now if I can only find the right old bolt.

This is a great site. I do plan on a donation but feel I must donate to the Red Cross first.
