I can't believe it! None of my other hotrods were ready for a car show, so I put some elbow grease into my '52 GMC Pick up and detailed it for the car show. I put a sign in it that explained that I bought it with an amateur restoration and it serves as daily driver status. There were about 270 cars registered, so when they began announcing winners, I walked off, thinking there were far too many beautiful and perfect entries to even notice my simple red truck. I had one of 5 GMC and Chevy truck entries and they were all much better than mine. One of them was even a perfectly restored original without modifications. The rest all had various V8's in them but were beautifully done anyway.

Well, I came back to the truck to leave at the end of the day and there was a trophy sitting in the driver's seat. I had won first place for 1954 and older. And that includes all the gorgeous older street rod cars that were entered too.

I still don't understand HOW I got a trophy, but maybe it's because it was a pretty red daily driver rather than a trailer queen. Anyway, the trophy is going to sit next to the plastic model of my truck on my desk.

So it's been a good weekend!

I think John secretly wants a trophy, too, so watch out that your's don't go missing. I know you got your's fair and square, but, I suspect if I wanted a trophy, considerin' the condition and appearance of my old '46, well, like most of the fellers around the garage here, I'd just have to up and buy myself a trophy.

Hey, the appearance of my truck is nothing to brag about, believe me. The bed is the most beat up part about it. But they didn't hold it against me.

I'll be working on that in time.
But there were some NICE hotrod trucks there. I still can't believe mine took it.

Just goes to show you don't never know,

First and best trophy I won was a $20.bill in a card,because the historical society,didnt purchase a trophy,for best of show.The ones since that first one make wonderful dust collectors.
