The stuff will break down over time, plus it holds water

Good idea, but I would worry about water, road salt, etc. seeping in and corroding the metal.Had a '36 ford that had some kind of "stuff" put in the door panels and it had settled on the bottom and the trapped water had rusted out the panels.

some of that spray foam is also corrosive to metal w/o the trapped water, and it really expands, so if you shoot too much in the wrong place it will distort any panel it pressures

.. there is some sort of spray deadner available, i've heard probably at any large parts house. it doesn't expane that much.
or
buy a sheet in dynamat..., the kits are way more expensive, go for the roll. boy the stuff ain't cheap but you don't necessarly have to cover the entire interior panel, roof, doors, back panels, under floor. cut w/ sissors, peel off the backing, stick it on. done!

Stay away from spary foam! Nasty stuff, hard to get off hands, clothes, walls, floors, etc. etc.
