V6 jimmy Wrench Fetcher V Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 221 arkansas	2 bolts on each side that hold the hinge to the bed you only need to take one side loose and you can lift the gate off.

Instead of weld them I put a 1/2" threaded rod through the upper part of the tailgate and bolted that sucker together. I didn't even have to remove the tailgate. It's been this way for many years with no problems. delete my account and pictures
