Folks,

I wanted to find out where local Stovebolters were in my area and found out that stovebolt.com already has a mechanism for that. However, your name does NOT automatically get added to the list. I know of at least one person in my town (ndn) that does not show up. I'm gently asking that you add your name to the list if you wouldn't mind. It is located at http://www.stovebolt.com/world.shtml . Thanks.

Rance,

Yes, it's not automatic. Paul Schmehl (our Stovebolt Geek) has been keeping it up as best as he can. We've had a volunteer to try to see about automating it some but I'm not sure where that stands.

Another thing to locate folks is up on the top right hand side of this page ... under the "Post New Topic" and "Post Reply" icons, is a "directory" link. You can find people by location there, too. However, not everyone puts their location. But at least it's something.

I tried for a while to add people's state in the title of their gallery submission. But then I found that it would be better to mention "old truck" because that is what a search engine would pick up on. Who does a Google for "old truck Michigan" ?? Then I noticed that directory link.

I almost think if everyone would put where they are from in their registration, that would at least help with it being automatic.

We've not made a big push for people to get on the world page because we know it's a lot of work. But we also knew it would help people to know Stovebolters who are near them. AND we would never put anyone on there without them asking ... or doing it themselves (registration). Same with the Greasy Spoon t-shirt.

It's another thing that will get better (fixed) when we find more of those round to-its.

Thanks for reminding folks tho. It is pretty cool to see who's nearby!

Also, everyone (well, a lot of Bolters) have their city and state at the bottom with their name. You can always Google 'em on our Stovebolt Google and see what you come up with.

This from the Locator: "Start by clicking on a Country - then click a State and then find your City,"

My city is not listed in the Locater. How do I add a city?

by adding yourself, Kels - if the city isn't listed, no one from there has listed themselves

Hey Joker

I understand that I have to add myself but at that page, there is no way to do it (that I can see). I guess that is what I'm trying to ask. Where do I add myself

Kels - right above where it says the "start by clicking ..." it says "Sign me up Geek" or if yer browser don't like that one, click the "this link" one - either takes you to a page to sign up - pay Joker no mind, he's just jealous of all PNW'ers grin

Attention Everyone. This is just to clarify... You do not add yourself.

You fill in the information and it sends a email or electronic communication of some kind to someone who runs the 'Bolt or that section of it... 'the Editors' and their assistants. Then a human being has to actually modify the webpage with your new information, save the fileand then upload the changed file to the webspace.

Which is why it is not full of every single Bolter, as it is very time/typing and clicking labor consuming.
