So, I go home this weekend, and mom and dad say "get your truck running well, because we're moving." Apparently they bought a house about 5 miles out of town that's sitting on 18 acres of wooded land. 8 of those acres are pine trees from a defunct Christmas tree farm, and 10 acres is all hardwood - mostly oak. The pine trees really need to be cleared out as there is a lot of windfall and dead trees in there, and the oaks could use cleaned out too. so, on top of moving all our stuff out there, it's going to be hauling hundreds of pounds of wood around, pulling logs, moving brick and mortar (there was an outbuilding that fell and now it's blocking one of the tree farm paths) and pulling a trailer with a decent-sized lawn tractor on it. Also, dad wants to get an old tractor (like a Ford 8N or something), so truck truck is gonna have to move that out there as well.

I just hope the clutch is OK...This weekend when I was working on it, I figured out the charging system problem (someone hooked up 2 of the alt wires backward and it was discharging the battery) and to test it out, I took it down the road and got it up to 75 MPH before I slowed it down and went home eek eek

if it sees more than 700 lbs in one trip on that bed, I'll surprise myself. I am NOT going to risk having that bed wood give way at 45 mph under the weight of very valuable antique furniture.

Back when I got Shelley, the rotted bed had holes the size of pumpkins. Threw in a sheet of 3/8 plywood and hauled tons-0-stuff...firewood, dorm furniture, everything.

Have fun haulin'. I kinda miss putting a big ole load in the back and using 'er the way she was meant to be used.

She's already got a 3/4" piece of plywood in the bed over the wood. I"m just hoping the whole mess holds together. It's already being employed as storage for some of the stuff while we get our house ready to show to the realators, with 3 very large dressers in the back. You should have seen how the rearend squatted under that weight with those tired springs. I'll make sure to post pics of the truck while it's moving stuff, as well as it's new home and surrounding property. Hey, if you're lucky, you might get to see it kicking up some sand out in the pine trees! ha.
