Just finished watching this weeks episode of Overhaulin' where they reworked the 52 GMC. I thought it turned out great.

What are your thoughts?

I liked the "Rides" show right after it featuring a Jay Leno creation. That guy has way too much money.

Those are '55 Chevy headlight brows. Look at the shape of the driving lights.

I also enjoyed the Rides show. It seemed GM had a lot to do with that project. One of a kind engine (1000hp), several Vettes to cut up etc.

My new prediction is that Jay Leno will be a big time agent for GM in the near future. A lealicoca (spell check?) type figure. Yep I'm calling it now! He obviously has some very serious personal connections already.

I have seen quite a few of these trucks modified but this one has got me stumped. It came in with the split windshield and finished with what looked like a 54 style windshield. I am used to seeing a one piece windshield replacement with the two flat sides but no dividing bar. They must have modified the metal somehow, very clever.

In general I would take the original anyday!

It is pretty sad when the red truck that was the sample or whatever (Chevy with a visor) that they pushed into the garage looked better that the finished orange one.

As soon as they cut the grill the channel changed.

Tr.nix that is the new one piece windshield with a bend at the center. I have seen them at shows, they look good. I think in the upper $300 range.

As far as the show - AD truck, my favorite color, my favorite eye brows, my favorite grill..... WOW!!! If you don't mind Hot Rods, this is IT!

They tossed that nice chrome grill! I wish they had tossed it to me...

I was disappointed that they would loose so much of the GMC distinctive off the front. The '55 Belair hooded headlights are interesting, but I didn't care for what it did for the overall look of the truck.

It did bring to mind the Spence Murray Dream Truck that had dual headlights back in the '50s.

I would like to have seen more of the work and decision making process and less drama, but that's my comment after each of these shows. I don't really care who is getting tricked, but I would like to know where they got the suspension pieces, why they chose the ones they did, what they used to tub the bed.

I agree with Steve, I don't watch the show to see who is getting tricked or 'Overhauled' as they say. I would like to see more of the actual work involved. Not that I will ever be able to afford the stuff they use, but it is nice to dream.

at first i didnt like the fender mods. but buy the end of the show i thought it looked pretty trick it also had 55 car bumpers front and back

Is that the show where they surprise somebody by overhauling/redoing their ride?

I find it hard to imagine they would cut up someone's vehicle without prior permission -- people must have to apply to be on the show and then the surprise comes when they actually get picked.

I don't care for heavily modified AD trucks. Unless I get one too!

A family member like a spouse signs you up.

I always watch to see how they do things and then they never show you.

They put big marker writing over areas with holes and write fill or cut. Then in the next scene they are filled and cut? Wow, the magic of crappy TV.

It is lame you see the person start the cutting tool and then it is cut and finished with paint?

Is that really how it works?
Has that ever happened to you?

It seems as though I have about a 2 week period of figuring stuff out and about 10,000 steps in between.

Perhaps they have that magic genie Kip is always talking about?

(note: In the commercial for the show all they show is the spark of a cutting tool or a torch. This is more in the commercial than you will actually see in the show.)

A tv show that goes at the speed of most of our projects would be pretty boring indeed.

The same thing happens with love scenes, they kiss and the next second they are lighting cigarettes.
Ofcourse with some of us this may be true.

Just watched that show. Things got harder to watch the further they went.
Why didn't they go for one of them lonesome rust buckets ... nice 52 GMC it was.

You must be right Stovebolt Staff, but I'm sure glad I got my 52 behind gates.
'Nightmare' was mentioned a few times in that show...

These shows have the best equipped shops. What a nice body & finish facility.
Still there is nothing like my garage and yard and taking as much time as I like.
