It can be hard to get a tire shop to work on the split rims so a lot of folks go to a 16" 1-piece rim.
I put aftermarket 16" 1-piece rims with 235-85-16 radial tires on them. (I forget where the "R" goes.) There has been a lot of discussion here on the type of rim that will clear the tie rod ends up front. I found that 6 inch wide rims worked for me.

My '51 had 17" split rims, but I too put 16" solid rims on because no tire shop would work with the split rims.
Therefore, I have a complete set of split rims available if you're interested.

I do have a couple of 8-hole, 16's that I use as spares, but I have never seen a 3/4 ton with 17's. I have seen the 1-tons with the 9' bed with 17's. Learned something today.

A local junkyard has a 68 with a set of 17 inch non split rims on it with radials. Thanks for any advice/help. My 46 3/4 ton has 17" 8 lug split rims on it. We are going to be moving away from the splits and getting solid rims on it eventually. The 17" tires are also listed but must have been options.
