sometime back something was mentioned about how much the pickups and panels weighed and i wrote that my one ton long panel weighed 6800lbs because the gvw was 8800lbsand (8800-2000(1 ton)=6800 lbs. well,I WAS WRONG, i drove my 1 ton long panel down to the feed store and put her on the scales and she weighed in a nice 4650 lbs and that was with 8 gals of fuel and full oil and nothing in the back. so why is the gvw 8800lbs?

Because it can carry more than you thought grin

Because GVW stands for Gross Vehicle Weight. That would mean the vehicle and the load it is carrying for a manufacturers recommended GVW.

So according to the manufacturer, your rig should not weigh over the GVW when it is loaded.

Could void the warranty, you know.
