I liked the topic "Welcome". It's like opening the door to a whole different world, where people talk trucks. A status report on the '56 3100 that I am having restored is that it is coming along GREAT. Other than installing the new bedwood/rails, fuel cell, transmission and driveline, 'ol Dusty will be ready to hit the road once more. Still can't figure out how to post a picture here (Norse has been a great help in the past), but if someone (including you Norse) would like to post a recent picture for me, e-mail me a [email protected] and I'll forward you some. I'm happy the site is cleaned up and I wish John & Peg the very best as they go forward to provide this excellent forum for us to "talk trucks"!

What happened to the member designations? Now it just says "member," "advanced member," etc. instead of the old "Apprentice Wrench Fetcher," "Shop Shark," etc.

I'm glad you finally got rid of the Lounge. It's finally what it should be, a bulletin board
about GM trucks. Thanks, it's about time.

Congratulations on your new look and policies! In my line of work (IT project management)change management is one of the toughest things to deal with. There are users who like the old, users who like the new and others who are never happy. It drives you crazy and sometimes you wonder why you bother at all. Remember change is inevitable and change is good. Hang in there!

The member designations are pretty funny.

Woog, You're an advanced member because you've posted something at least 500 times. If we designated registered users according to their real knowledge of old trucks ... well, I know what mine would be ... Moron.

When I chucked the Lounge, I also chucked the other "childish" aspects of the site, too, and that included the goofy member designations (which were intended to show that we didn't take ourselves very seriously) as well as the word "**** " on the banned list (to show that we could have innocent fun with the rivalry).

Bad assumptions on my part, but I'm still learning.

Ford. This is a test! Is it true that the F-word is now allowed! :o Hopefully I was mistaken! I've got cramps in my fingers just from typing it! I do say the word frenquently though, proceeded by another seven letter word that starts with "F"! This happens every time I have to work on the wife's 93 F-150. Being unable to persuade her from getting rid of it has seriously taken time away from me working on my Stovebolts! :mad: I "sweetly" remind her of this everytime she asks " When are you going to get the COE done!

Me too!, John how 'bout a section, tutorial or even a thread telling us how to do that? Someone else posted my last picture and it got flushed with the lounge. (Not complaining, positive move...)

Yes, there's a good FAQ that deals specifically with having a picture in the forums. We added a link to it going to Norselander's site - he did a good step-by-step, too -- that's really helpful.

I love it. I keep finding nooks and crannies on this site. I just discovered the sagas by following another link in the forum.

I've had a lot of fun putting those sagas together. We need some new ones, though -- certainly there are some really interesting stories to be told of how we find our old trucks (or how they find us, as the case may be).

As soon as I am emotionally stable enough, I may write about bringing my Farmall A home...

C'mon, guys -- we need some new sagas -- put on yer creative beanies and wordsmith me some stories of searching up the old iron -- pretty soon, all the old trucks lurking in fencerows and in old tobacco barns are going to be all crushed and on their way to a steel mill in China. And the barns they were in will be bulldozed, paved over and have WalMarts built over them. Future generations need to be able to read what it was like to actually find an unrestored antique truck actually sitting abandoned somewhere in a place called a "farm." Or another place that used to exist generations ago -- the "woods."

Please don't make me write all this -- I think you guys are sick of my rants.

HMMMMM... I'd say the owner of that old truck who previously owned a 1939 pickup truck that is advertised as being the very first truck on this site.

We were warned repeatedly to keep it peaceful and some chose not to, hence everyone paid the price.

I for one will miss the stories, pictures and the banter (well, some of it anyway) in the forum formerly known as "The Lounge". RIP.
