Do you allow your spouse/other to drive your truck,,mine has not, never has asked Tonym,another truck topic just for you

After that show in Farmers Branch June wants her own to drive. She asked if I could be talked into painting mine green instead of blue and I told her we'd paint hers green. She took me serious.

Never has, never asked.
She does like to go for rides though Don't think she would appreciate the work involved in driving with stock steering and brakes and signaling all at the same time. Boy that sounds like fun, think I'll go for a ride.....

My wife doesnt even get to RIDE in The Ox, the few times I invited her along, she continually complained about the wind noise, rough ride, and of all things the RATTLING.... Hecters.. everyone knows that "REAL TRUCKS RATTLE"!!

I let my son drive The Ox when i've been at the liquer... but i'm always there.. the second time he drove it, we were on a long straight.. i told him to floor it... he wouldnt, so i did it for him... the next time i told him to floor it he did... He is too tall for those old trucks tho,, really looks funny all coiled up around the steering wheel.

My '55 is a 4-speed and she won't drive a manual. My '72 is an automatic, but its too big... She won't even climb into my big bolts.

I'm building a '54 3100 just for her. It will be automatic with power steering and brakes, lowered and I might even shorten the bed to make it feel smaller.

I have a power seat that goes up and down in addtion to fore and aft. It will be installed so max up and max forward just fit her (she isn't very big), so it can be moved where I can drive it, since I'm sure I'll be the primary driver once its done.

Norse, I use that a lot, around here it means approve

Wife, not any longer. Drove it one time 17 years ago before the resto and scared the bejeezes outta me. 16 year old son did just under half the driving on the trip to CA and back in June and did real well but says thats all. Truck worked him to a frazzle and he prefers the nicer handling and riding modern vehicles. so guess its just the ol man behind the wheel which is just fine with me.

My wife is 32 years younger than I....she has driven everything
inc the Small block powered FWD Corvair.

She has a motorcycle lic and a 1947 Triumph

My darlin bride won't ride in (well, ok...twice) or drive my 64. She prefers her Blazer...or Camaro. I don't understand. Must be a chick thing.

Fran loves to drive trucks. The 54 has the stump puller 4 speed. She has to raise her butt of the seat to push the clutch pedal...doesn't want it converted to auto. The truck is hers so she makes the final decisons on color, upholstery, wheels, etc. She does the painting and bodywork and I look after the mechanical and electrical.

Her daily driver is a 1980 C20 350 auto 8600 GVW. She borrows my Maxima from time to time to save gas but she really would rather be in a pickup.

Of course she drove it.

My wife drove my 59 GMC before it was restored and since it has been restored she is the only one I let drive it. She only wanted to take it around the yard as she is very scared of hurting it.

My sister has a '54 1/2 ton Chevy pickup. She has had it for almost 30 years. She got it when she was 16 years old.

She doesn't let her husband drive it.

They get a laugh when they are out for a drive and someone comes over to him and tells him how brave he is to "let her drive his truck".

The wife would not drive my panel on a whiskey bet. Heck, I can't even get her to ride in it. She doesn't even like to see it in the driveway. Problem is, she did not tell me to buy it. She doesn't like it because she is not in control of it.

When it's the nicest thing we have, and the '89 Suburban has died of cancer, then I'm guessing she will ride in it because it will be the only thing big enough to haul everything she wants to take when we go up to see her folks.

Might have to put in a sunroof, though if she still has her nose so high in the air.

She didn't mind letting me use it to pull the stumps out of her garden, though. :rolleyes:

in working on it herself and of course driving it.

Meanwhile the 46 is being worked on but I think its going to be the 37 I like best but we,ll see.

One thing nice about us is that we enjoy pretty
much the same things. At least so far

My wife drives a 51 Chevy ,which is her truck. And she also drives our 45 2 ton, she has no problem with the non synco gear box, she learned to double clutch.To be truthful, she's more of a old truck person than me.

Did you get that hood or are you still trying to set up an express to get the one in MN? I still haven't heard from my step-son. I think either the 327 deal fell through or he was dreaming when I asked him to nail it down.

Dang, I was hot to get that 327, and the price was right.

I believe that Joy can drive anything that has wheels on it.

Victoria like to RIDE in the 37 pickup but absolutely won't drive it. She doesn't want to be the one I slaughter if something happens to it! On the other hand my 22 year old daughter has driven it and loves it.....except for the 2 1/4 inch straight pipes. Told me sunday the smitty's had to be put on it. Victoria wants the 40 sedan finished....call it her grocery car and it has to have a sun roof. What ever makes her happy.....just stay OUT OF THE PICKUP!

I gotta ask the babytrkr for the frankentruck when I need it - she's driven the red58 too, tho the 3speed on it is a bit harder to use than hers - she had to drive it the 150 or so miles once from down island when I got outta the hospital and couldn't run the pedals - she loves bein able to drive somethin the other gals couldn't even figger out how to start!!

My whole family seems to like driving 'big red'. My wife will drive it when necessary, my son is the same.. likes to hang his arm out the window.. my daughter really seems to like driving it. As she will take it instead of the Exploder if her Jeep isn't running. Problem is everyone keeps asking if they can buy it!

Maybe cause I've been a motorhead so long it's my life.....

My wife has driven my 69, and will drive my 52 if needed. Tough to keep a farm girl out of the cab, she was driving a school bus when she was in high school.

It all depends if you can afford to lose it. I used to have a 450 horse 56 Nomad that I put in a few car shows.One weekend before it was schedualed to go into the PNE Car Show, my best friend wanted to borrow it to make a "Beer Run". You guessed it ,that was it's final run.He had no money and no job, so I ended up flipping the 600 extra dollars that the insurance needed to complete the restoration. Well ,the frame ended up beeing an inch or two longer on the drivers side and when I waved good bye to it after I sold it ,the body waved back. It was never the same,sniff. I used to wash it every time before driving it .No one was allowed to get into it before removing their shoes, I was obsesive.Funny, I was interested in a red AD truck, just south of Spokane a few months back ,and the guy insulted me .He thought I wouldn't look after his baby as much as him.I'd like to see his house.I have been told I'm excesively obsesive about that type of stuff,I would go so far as wiping my engine every day before I'd take my Nomad out.I think the guy simply wasn't ready to let it go.

June has gotten really handy at operating the yard dog ('53 2-ton winch truck) when I need her to.

and she probably wont run over anything and break or bend axles...
