My daughter in-law has an old Chevy 3/4 ton pick-up that she is thinking about selling but doesn't know how much to ask for it. If I give you all the info. can I ask that question here?

You can ask but I'm not sure anyone is allowed to answer. Let's just see what happens. This will probably get deleted ... lol...

3/4 tons aren't worth as much as 1/2 tons. Of course, condition is everything. A running 3/4 ton AD with some rust, but still a reasonably solid truck is in the $500-1,000 dollar range. Not a lot of people want the 3/4 ton due to the low gears and rough ride, but they do make a heck of a work truck.

Saw a guy with a 54 3/4 ton for sale at a show recently. Truck needed rust repair, paint, bed wood, and burnt oil. He was asking $2,500. No one was even looking at it, he was so far off on his price.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

It's a legit question and one you should be able to ask in a forum like this. We have had problems in the past with folks abusing the priviledge, though.

I have a little influence with the boss around here so I'll see if I can get him to look the other way while you post the message wink

This is a question we get a lot around here, though. We even have an FAQ that deals with it. You can read Barry Weeks' excellent answer here -- FAQ: "What\'s My Truck Worth?"

Read that and then we'll take a swag at your description.

Fred T -- So you're saying that $25,679.00 was too much for the '49 3/4-ton I bought that was rusty, had no bed and had a locked up VW motor? The owner said the door handles were original, though...

Regards,
John

John, my standard reply is ..."Depends on what you want to do with it ..." (It's a bit better than no answer at all.)

I sold a complete and fairly solid '48 3/4-ton this spring for $800 if I remember right. It had a newer 235 in it, but hadn't run in 15-20 years and would've needed the brakes done etc. The new owner bought it to use as a parts truck for his rusty 1/2-ton. This was in Minnesota, on either coast the truck may have brought more.

Barry ... was it you who orignally posted the Pacer IFS thread for AD Trucks? I was approached recently for more information and for the life of me I couldn't remember who was the originator.

It would be here in Kansas. But on the east coast, where rust is a way of life, anything that old could bring a lot of money! grin Come to think of it, maybe I should move there. The wife says I'm old and worthless here. eek

Fatfenders -- I did a Google search on the index page for IFS for AD trucks and came up with three things. You can moneky around with the search and see if you can find what you are looking for.
