In the recent "ebay forum" thread I saw a few complaints that the swap meet was hard to use and not user friendly. I view it everyday and find it very easy to use, so I'll tell you how Ken (Motion Guru)taught me to check it a couple years ago. At the top of the home page click on "swap meet", when the swap meet comes up, click on the red "browse ads" right in the middle of the page. Bang, there's every ad from all catagories posted in the order they were placed. This morning there were 3 new ads, none were of interest to me so I backed up to the home page where I started and clicked on Forums. This morning I timed it and it was a 12 second detour on my way here. And I'm on dial up.

A couple times a year I place some ads for parts for sale on the swap meet before I go to ebay with the parts. Would rather give the guys here first shot and it is much easier for me than the ebay hassle. I'll admit that the swap meet won't take my regular user name (Barry Weeks)that I use here. I'm a pretty simple guy and can't remember lots of new, different stuff, so I skip the space and use BarryWeeks for my swap meet name. Same password and everything. So yes, I do have to remember to leave the space out when I log into the swap meet. I can do that. If I have problems, I know I can ask Joy for help and get personalized service. For this she is paid the same as Tony gets for being moderator. Let's see, multipy by 12, divide by 3, carry the 1, that would be ...$0. John and Peg have never charged anything to post ads on here either. So my total cost to advertise some parts on here, including help if I need it, is $0. Same cost for a wanted ad if I'm looking for parts. My monthly ebay bill when I sell parts on there is staggering, so I'm thinking the Stovebolt Swap Meet is a pretty good bang for the buck really. And I can't get any help at ebay!

On my recently placed ads here, I have had little response, but if I do sell something of value, I will be sure to send John and Peg a little donation to help keep the site going. It's only fair. My recent ads here took me about 20 minutes to place and cost me nothing! I have no complaints here, and really appreciate Joy keeping things inline over in the swap meet.

Barry, well stated, although I have nothing for sell I do like to brouse thru the items just to see what is out there, I too think that Joy and the rest of the staff do a real good job, also Folks like you make this a great site,, it is a pleasure to part of this site,,, regards,,Fred

it is a life saver for me... freindly bolters with parts I know will work, because they are old truck nuts too, and I can ask!

If you are buying something you don't even have to register or even sign in. If the swampmeet is too much trouble when you are selling I am sure there are others out there. I found my truck on the swap meet and it was basically local. I found a seat local, springs etc etc. It seems to work great and I often don't even have to pay for shipping.

The Stovebolt pages including the swap meet pages are some of the best and easiest to use in my experiance. They are constantly updating and taking out the bugs, it's teriffic! The swap meet pages have been a breeze to use and at no cost! I can't say enough about the staff, John and Peg and to all the stovebolters that contribute to these pages. As I have stated in the past, the changes that have been made to the stovebolt site are reasonable and have taken most of the tension out of the format. Keep up the great work..... ...... George

Wow. I don't know what to say. I've been working on It Ran and the December newsletter all day ... and I thought I'd take a break to see if we were still getting "beat up" in here!

Golly, Barry ... that's a great "tip." Since John hasn't proofed the December newsletter, I'm gonna snag it and put it in there.

When someone submits a gallery photo and said they found it on our site ... wow, that really makes us happy. Just knowing that it works for folks.

So, all of your comments really "paid" for my day's work. Thanks.

Don' expect it first thing in the morning, tho. I need John's help on a few things to finish up. He works better in the morning than evening. :p It could be because he's been working all day already

I've gotta agree, the Swap Meet is a pretty easy way to go. Since everythings listed chronologically, its pretty easy to take a look every few days or weeks to see what's new. Doesn't look like it needs any fixing to me. Keep up the good work.

I tried it, and it worked great, until I looked at an ad. Afterward, including contacting the seller, because I think I want the item offered, I clicked back, wanting to look at more items in the list.

I had to start over in the list.

Is there a smooth way to check the details on an ad, and then return to the list?

I just went to "browse ads" right now and clicked on "details" for the first ad. I then went "back" and got right back to the list. I then did the same thing and after looking at "deatils" on the same ad, just went back up and hit "browse ads" again. Still went right back to the list. Maybe after you contact the seller it's hard to get back to the list? I didn't try that.

I tried it both with and without contacting the seller, but I was two or three pages in when I had trouble.

It appears the next ten button passes some info about where you are in your search, and that info is not passed when you choose details. Then in the return the browser has lost the page. It could be a browser specific issue.

I just added, per suggestion, a "Freebie" section to the Swap Meet. Hope you all like it.

I see what you mean now Steve. Usually I only get into the 1st page as I check the swap meet daily. This morning there were a bunch of manuals on there, so kept going in a few more pages. When I tried to back up, the page had expired and I had to refresh it to backup. I don't know why that is, mayber one of the confuser wizards here can tell us. If you need to, just hit "browse ads" again from any page and I think you'll get back to where you started.

Since I don't use the Swap Meet, I wondered if something would help there that I use for my other work.

Lots of times I have two browswer windows open. For the Swap Meet, after you go to "browse ads," any additional information you want, "right-click" the mouse to "open in a new window." That way you never loose the "browse ads" page.
