So, what are you doing??

Here's my plan:
Replace the door striker
Oil Change
Car wash and vacuum
Bed cleanout
Get and install weatherstripping
Install A.I.R. pump (and figure out where to get the hoses)
And, whatever else I can get done!

Right now I'm watching it rain cats and dogs on both my trucks for about the 5th day this week. Aargh! And it's supposed to rain thru Tuesday. And it's a 3 day weekend!
Jeez Louise, I may as well be stationed in Whidbey Island, WA. All rain and no sun makes a wrench turner a dull boy.
Hope the rest of y'all are having better luck.

mugsy - you'd prolly be better off on Whidbey - they must be gettin the same sunny, dry spell we've had on Vanc Isl for a couple weeks now - guess you didn't hear that Calif wants us to export water - easiest way = send you the rain! grin

I'm thinkin about the panel project that will hopefully be the full time job by spring - meanwhile I've been wandering around in the sun doing little jobs like stackin some firewood, feedin the compost, organizeing the greenhouse and garden for planting, gettin ready for SPRING!!! cool the fiddlin that's needed on the drivers can wait wink

I removed the dual carb setup and rebuilt the fuel pump on my 1962........Merc 450 outboard motor.

Two carbs on the 261 in my '48 Chev would be great but I don't think these Tillotsons would do the job.

I replaced the HEI distributor in my 64 today after it wouldn't start before work yesterday. I drove it to where it was and in the morning, nothing, cranks no start. Checked spark, none. Had power all of the way to the cap. Had a spare distributor on the shelf, slid it in started right up. Glad it did this at home. Then I did some sandblasting on some small parts for the 63 I'm restomodding and treated them with rust-seal. Then I did some wiring in our basement to add some outlets. Our house is only 2 years old, but I wanted to see if the basement would stay dry before finishing it. Tomorrow I'm going to visit my gramma which lives about three hours away. Later, my wife and I will finally get to sit down and watch a movie together, haven't done that in a while.

Well, all I did was crank up (not literally) the '46 and drive into Georgetown to the bank and Wal-Mart. Had a nice drive.

It is raining a ton so I will not be finishing my yard work. I am trying to strip the inside of a fender that is all rusty with all of the wrong tools. Frustration and the absence or negligence of proper saftey equipment leads to injury. Over spent on products to do simple body work and I also bought a filter/regulator for the compressor that is hooked up improperly for now since I lack the proper parts for now. So it it another angry unproductive weekend after an overworked frustrating week. I should have stayed at work.

Fire up the kerosene heater and try and finish the the rebuild of my brakes...still left is a couple of coats of chassis black on rear driver side backing plate, bolt-up new emergency cable, and then wheel cyliner, shoes, return sping. Not sure how far I'll get....may just listen to my Sirius satilite and smoke too many cigars!!

Checked out a free, "It Ran When I Parked It" IH T-9 bulldozer (comes with a heap of additional scrap metal, um, I mean a parts bulldozer). When I looked into that dark glass, I saw the end of my marriage. Wisely left it in place.

Also available was a '64 1-Ton Chevy van that had been cut down into a flatbed. Runs, some significant rust. Homemade cab modification and flatbed.

"What are you wanting for it?" sez I.

"Two," sez farmer.

"Two...?" asks I, hesitantly ...

"Thousand," sez farmer.

"Well, I check around and see if I know anyone who's interested," sez I, choking my urge to guffaw.

Went home and rearranged the shop, drove the JD 420 around and got the tires dirty. set fire to three burn piles grin

Friday: Cleaed up the garage floor from the winter mess and whatnot.

Went to a tag sale of the estate of a local photographer and camera shop owner. Bought two pocket knives an old timer with his name stamped in it and a brand buck 303u.

Saturday: Swap meet. Bought stainless kickdown cable, stainless throttle cable for the truck. Traded a bumper for two side marker lights on my satellite and got some edelbrock throttle adapters the car needed. Coached 7th grade basketball game at church.

Sunday: Church. Grandmas 79th birthday party. Daytona 500.

Monday: Chucke Cheese in St. Charles which is a two hour drive. Then over to fastlane cars in St. Charles then back home. Big family day.

Part 2

The rain slowed today. I graded some of the area surrounding the house so it will drain properly but it was tooooo mushy I will dry again on a dryer day. Replaced several sprinklers and it started to rain again.

I picked up the garage a bit. Continued my fender stipping struggle. I am near finished. Whe I got bored with the stipping I took the makeshift grinder to the sloppy welds of the previous owner. I also tried to fill 2 small holes in the fender with my new welder and poor welding skills.

The holes are filled. I hope I will not be needing them for anything. eek

While welding I set the trash can on fire!
I know I can;t be the first to do that.
The rain can be usefull in these situations. I took the can outside and turned it upside down.

yard graded, sprinklers in, fender sorta stripped holed filled and the fire is out!

a better day today that yesterday.

I did pretty much what all the other SoCal bolters were doing..... dodging the rain, mucking in the mud and playing with fire (in my fireplace).

I did get some un-necessary drain pipes installed (now it's trying to turn itself into a mud flow).. and got a couple of water pipes and an electrical conduit to my yard shed buried. Then pulled the wire, and hooked it to a hot lead i found next to a power pole... I only got shocked twice... and the lights are really bright too..

darn, it's getting darker outside.. and its not even 9 am.

I tried to start The Ox, but the battery is dead.. must be time to buy a new Diehard.

Another quality post.
