Sure would appreciate a response, gonna be headed to the parts store for some other things...thanks | | | | Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 31 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 31 | My 53 has a presure relief valve in the upper radiator tank facing the engine. I've tried to pressurize the cooling system once with a pump up type of tool and could only get it to four pounds before it would release. I think that's typical. So the cap rating is probably not important.

I was under the impression that the Chev rad did not have the pressure relief valve. | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 | Appreciate it..cap is old anyway, so probably just replace it with a new 4#..thanks | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 445 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 445 | shopper I would go with a 4lb cap.the raditor is getting old and thin.something like old people.

Stay with a 4# cap, or you could wind up pushing water out of all the wrong places.
