| | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | dont know much about them except it seems like a lot of people have them on cars and trucks, here is the deal. my best friend(my brother-inlaw) has a surprise birthday party this Sun. and I would like to get him one for his Phord 150,,,he had borrowed my 16 foot trailer and when he bought it back he mentioned that he needy to get so that next time the trailer would be a little lower, he also installed new lights and wireing(cows had eaten up the old ones),, could not get him to take any money for them,, he has always done so much for me over the many yrs that I have known him,, just a great guy,,any-how I need some tips,, can you buy these things at say pep-boys, auto places or is it best to go to trailer type places that installed these, I know they are different classes such as class 1 and so forth, guess they go by what one needs to haul, I would think he would need maybe some-where in between as it is just a normal 2003 Phord 150 pick-em-up.... thanks for any and all response and do you think I can get one for $100,,,,,,Fred

It's nice to get it installed but in most cases it's just a bolt on affair. Get at least a class III hitch. It's the standard for good towing with a full size truck. Don't get a class II. Cabella's (yes) has class III/IV
hitches for $149.99 class III/IV handle up to 6,000 lb trailer weight and up to 600LB tongue weight. It's what I have on my 1999 fjord F150. I tow a boat and have no problem with it. Pep Boys may also have them.
