Does anybody know what handles interchange (ie-car to truck)? Im looking for exterior handles for my 39. I see plenty for cars and by the pics they look the same. Maybe dont have the same cosmetic lines on the face of the handle but are the same style.

There are usually one or two handles on Ebay all the time... very few have keys tho...

'39-'46 truck. Some '46's had handles with plastic molded over a steel core. Otherwise they were all chrome plated die cast handles. Pass. side door had a lock built into the handle from '39-'41, idea being that you would lock the driver's door from the inside with the little T-knob and get out on the sidewalk (non-traffic) side. Not so stupid back then, huh? '42-'46 pass. side door used a lock that was not part of the handle.

37's had lock built into the passenger side also.

Im looking for new handles or rechromed with the locks. Will any of the car models work? Seems to be a good selection of the car handles.

I think the car handles are different than the truck. The exterior handles may look the same but I think the shaft through the door is different.

Car handles are similar, but different. '35-'38 truck locking door handle is different from '39-'46 locking door handle. More straight and pointed on the end. '39-'46 exterior handles are curved and have lines casts into them.

Barry, Ok the 35-38 truck handles look different but do they have the necessary dimensions to work with a 39 latch?

I can't really answer that I guess. I did have a '35-'38 locking door handle here, but sold it recently. I remember it as being very similar on the business end, but without comparing the two side by side, I'm not sure. Actually, don't worry about it anyhow as the '35-'38 handles are harder to find than the '39-'46!
