OK… I’m looking for my peers opinions...
The cab of my ‘40 is on the cab dolly I built and stripped down. I’m working on the body work getting close to paint.
Now I got to say I’m not a Rodder (Not that there is anything wrong with that). I just kinda like building stock. That’s pretty much what I have done so far with the chassis, trans, engine, etc.
The truck was originally Swift Red with the standard Black fenders and running boards. The interior color was the standard Beige “Hammered” color.
The Red and the Black is a done deal… I love the color combination. I already bought the paint.
I’m just not really thrilled with that standard interior color. Would I be a horrible person if I was to paint it Red like the rest of the cab???
When you guys met up with me on the street in my newly restored Stovebolt and saw the interior color Red, would you say: “What was he thinking? He went stock except he screwed up and painted the interior the wrong color!”
Would this just blow the whole stock thing??? I don’t mean to be anal about this but I know I have my feelings about cars and trucks I see and I say “Why did he do that?”
Go ahead and let me hear it… Don’t hold back, I can take it. I really want your opinion on this. Thanks in advance!

I'd say go ahead and do what you like. Don't anguish over minor deviations from absolute stock, just consider it "artistic license." It's your truck, your time, your money, your call.

Paint it red. 99% of the people that see it won't know the difference.

beige would not look very good, I think...do what you want, go red.

What are you planning to do with this truck? If it's 'show as restored' you may want to go with the correct color. Otherwise, do what you want. As has already been said, not many people will know it didn't come that way.

I like the stock colors. Redo the interior whatever the stock color was and then pick your favorite stock exterior color. I've seen a lot of trucks painted the same color both inside and out, but for me, it's to much of a good thing.

I guess, since your asking for opinions, which like noses everyone has one -- here's mine. If you are keeping the truck and even if showing as stock are willing take the hit for the incorrect interior color -- go for red. If you plan on selling it down the road as stock, you may take a $ penalthy, because if the buyer plans on showing the truck and wants the correct interior color, repainting will take a lot of work for him.

There used to be a chap on the board that used the phrase "resale red" and I have to agree. If it tastefully done, red always looks good and draws more attention than any other colour, inside or out. Go for it!

Red would look good...but what about doing the interior black?...red cab and black fenders and interior....just a thought in a different direction.
Are you going for a concours type show truck.. or just a nice, drivable stock truck?.. If concours stay with the beige.. if not.. do what you want..

have you seen the cover of the '05 winter LMC catalog? red AD w/red inside cab and what looks to be tan upholstery. looks pretty good.

Personally, I'd go for a neutral stock color. I hate black for an interior color, 'cause it looks like you got wasted on miller lite one night and pulled out your 2 extra cans of Krylon still in the WalMart bag and started sprayin', and the 12 empty cans are still in the bed!(You asked for opinions!)
I also don't care for the red idea as it would be distracting visually while driving, for me. But hey, if your just trailering it from show to show, who cares? If it's tastefully done, anything goes.

I've played around with a drawing of my '48 flatbed using Photo Shop. I'm going to use a green that's a bit darker than Forester Green with black fenders.

I also feel that the stock interior is kind of bland.I wanna put a 48 3100 together someday and the interior will go like this.
Dash:Woodgrained like the 48 pass car.
Colum:Brown,also like the pass car.
Door panels:Full legnth like pass car
Seats:Again like the pass car(mohair,pattern)
Steering wheel:Banjo from pass car.

First let me say that it is your truck, do with it as you please. With that said, let me give you my opinion. I personally don't care for trucks with the interior the same color as the exterior. Like several have said before me, I would go for a neutral color. I'm not sure what the stock color looked like for your '40, but I actually like the Champegne used in the AD trucks.

My 46 is red with black fenders. The PO painted it, and painted the interior gray. A shade of gray about the same color as the 216 motor.

Far from stock, but I like it. If you'd like to see what that combo would look like, e-mail me, and I'll send you a picture.

Kevin - Paint it what ever color you want, but I would paint the interior a different color than the body. IMHO the interior should a lighter color, makes the interior look bigger.

My 46 is brick red body, dark grey fenders and the interior is a real light grey (almost white). I think it looks good, and in the final run that's what counts. Do what YOU like.

Wally, I love what you did with PhotoShop. This is a great way to figure out if you like the color combination before you make the investment in paint.
Freedo, I once had a 69 Camaro that I restored that was red outside with black graphics and red interior except I changed out the red carpet for Black, It really set off the red interior.
TWE56, I always dream of showing one of the cars I restore and this ’40 is no different. This would be a good reason to keep the interior the stock Beige color.
Frets, Red is my favorite and it does seem to sell well.
46forme, I hadn’t thought of the color making the interior look bigger. Something to think about.

I must tell you that my 2000 F**D 150 happens to be Red with Tan dash and Tan leather seats. And I like the color combo.

Painting it all Red would be easier, less expense, and I really don’t know where to stop and start the paint colors since the truck was pretty rusty when I got it.

Alright! …I’m going to decide!.... Right now….. Right at this instance….
