Well, I'm not a creative genius, that's for sure. So, Rob "The Toonman" Butler gave us this cool image and Norselander gave me the cool font idea. You all are always calling it "old iron" so I tried piecing it all together for

If I came up with a design idea, made the graphic and passed it on could you use it?

I am not lookin for a kickback I just have been terrorized by cool truck ideas on occasion.

In -- yes, anything and everything you can think of. The "store" now offers a Christmas ornament. So, any help with ideas -- funny, fun or serius -- are seriously welcomed!

I come up with some of my ideas when I'm trying to go to sleep -- then I CAN'T sleep. And, of course, I forget them by the morning.

Peg, I like the hat--I agree looks like the "Old Iron" might need to be lowered a little--catchy tho--looks like the rear of the hat is ventilated. Good thing for down here in the South--we really can't wear the solid hats--get too hot--

Thanks Buzz. I gotta work on that design a little. I think the Stovebolt part is too small.

They have all this different criteria for the different items in the store. So I finally figured out (last night while I should have been sleeping), how to keep them all straight.

I'll probably work on it tonight. I think I like the phrase "preserving old iron" better ... but I think that would have to go on a shirt. I had an idea of that (in a circle) with my Stovebolt across it ... but I don't know how to do the circle. SO, John can make that one happen while I work on mine!

Oh, and the back ... it's called a trucker's hat instead of a baseball cap. Not sure why. It is much bigger than the ball cap and has the open air backside. What do trucker's have big heads and sweat more?

Whatever. I wish it wasn't that black. But that's okay.

Okay, I'm back but I'm done. I fixed the trucker hat -- made it bigger; black and changed the font on the "old iron" part so the "r" looks like an "r" and not an "n."

But eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! The server was so slow ... it's driving me nuts.

So, I had one more to get in there ... and I'm outta here for the rest of the day (too nice outdoors).

Ah. Fred, you've been away. So, that's okay. We are not exactly "on top of things" but thanks ... I suppose we are a little bit better than we were

I've asked The Toonman to send me a bigger image of the little truck. I like it, too. I think he has several -- Chevy and GMC -- so we hope to do something with those. Stay tuned.

Also ... got an awesome shot of a big grille. Getting permission now to use it in a design. It's a great photo ... hope JOHN can come up with a great *something* to go along with it.

John's outdoors now with the neighbor and his bobcat, filling in a retaining wall. Gotta get the camera for some pix. This is the same fellow who ended up in the pond in the bobcat at Christmas, remember? So, I'll have the camera ready. Hope he doesn't end up OVER the retaining wall

Yep...We would be fighting the Art Deco Lunch box if we only bought one for this house.

But about that black and white hat...we need a full cotton hat here in the land of blowing snow. That net stuff open in the back is TOO cold. How about a choice?

One of the ideas for the e-store is to actually turnn it into a Stovebolt Mall. The stores would be Advance Design, Big Bolts, Panels and 'Burbs, etc. AND a "Yours truly" or something like that. There we'd show all the merchandise that's available and YOU pick what you want on it. Kinda like what we did with the wall calendar last year. A person would have 4 days / week something like that to order their merchandise (once it was uploaded), so the next person could get something "made."

I'll try to get working on that and will let you know when it's there.

Thanks for the "suggestion" -- glad to see I was somewhat on the right track.

Ha -- we could even do a "before and after" on the lunch box since there's a place for an image on either side. I guess the lunchbox could easily replace the calendar since there's room for writing, too. Keep thinking you all!

I know all the fonts are not easily available (Irma has entered the super-megabyte storage realm with stuff she embroiders on her machine), but "Stovebolt" in the art-deco Chevy font wold be nice, if it is available.

That font was ubiquitous back in the '40s and, in addition to "Chevrolet," graced much of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific passenger train paraphernalia.

Also, I suggest trying to find a name more in keeping with the "Stovebolt" theme--Neighborhood Market, Corner Store, Hmmmmm......--rather than calling a diverse group of storefronts the "mall". Ssomehow, the word "mall" conjures up the notion of the X generation (NOT that there is anything wrong with the X generation!).

Well, you and John must think alike. Last year he worked on making his own font from the Chevrolet plate off the truck. He scanned the whole thing (THAT was interesting) and then worked on eachletter. I'll have to let him know he should continue to persue it. He's got Stovebolt all together but he needs to clean it up a bit.

I like the idea of the name (not mall) but will really have to think hard to come up with WHAT it could be ??? :confused: :confused:

The lunch box is a great idea. I have a picture of a couple YOUNG stovebolters sitting in my old 37 before it was done and they would love a lunch box, not to mention my 5 grandchildren!! (the future of stovebolting)All 5 of them are boys and all love "pawpaws" old truck. It would be nice to find some items with the Diamond series (as my 37 is called)Most of what I see is the AD pickup. Maybe I was just born to soon? The pic is in the gallery. I also like the t-shirt and hat ideas. Good work ya'll!

Hi Peg, maybe it should read Future OWNER of pawpaws Stovebolt?? Mine is the one in the gallery titled "in memory of a brother" 1937 half ton pickup. The picture I have is when the engine and cab was on the frame and his little head "trying" to look up over the steering wheel. Unfortunately the future lady stovebolter passed away last March after 2 year battle with rare cancer at age 16. She was one of a very few who have driven my old truck and was one of her highlights about 4 weeks from the end. The other 3 are still small (3-7) but like to ride in the old truck! Believe me, I come from and have a long family line of stovebolt lovers!! When you say you can "do it" do I understand you can do ONE of a kind? I'm not hip on all the computer stuff but you would think I should be after 35 years in the textile printing industry!
Oh, you guys do a great, I mean a GREAT job. I recommend the stovebolt page to folks at every cruise-in and car/truck show I attend. Well, its off to see if I can catch the guy at home to look at the 42-46? panel delivery.

I like the hats, but I have no need for a lunchbox.

If you go for the hats, try to get a few for the cranially endowed deep thinkers of the group.

Most of those hats with the plastic strap, or the clothstrip with the metal buckle are one size that fits NONE! I take a 8 and 1/4, to an 8 and a 1/2 size hat, and the adjustables are just for the guys and gals who just don't quite measure up in the head. :-)

The Big Head Cap Company (http://www.bigheadcaps.com/) sells a very nice flexiable fit cap that is self adjusting for sizes 7 3/4 to 8 1/2. I have one in Navy, and it is the only cap that I have which looks right, and feels great. They just don't come with the Stovebolt logo, or a Chevy logo.

I know that if you had them, I would buy them. Are there any other fat heads out there who agree with me?

I am making Christmas Cards with that 53 Chevy on it!!! Plus a lot of others!!!!!!
