We had our first showers but now the winds are picking up and we are hours from a real downpour. The news says this might be the worst storm we had in the last 10 years.

The storm hit us like a freight train before the morning commute. This is going to be a tough one with bad drivers acting silly in the first rain of the year. There will be hundreds of accidents. Loads of rain and wind so far. There will be mudslides too, major rain runoff on a dry base. Ouch. I am fine at home today. My wife is driving her 30 mile each way commute right now.

Some people think a little storm is a big deal. :rolleyes: Be thankful you are getting some rain to fill those empty resevoirs.

Heck, here in Texas that would only be called a high humidity day.

Sounds like us here for the first snowfall of the season. All the idiots have to wreck the car that replaced the one they wrecked last year before it's safe to go out again.

I remember one rainstorm, dropped something like an inch in various parts of the LA basin and the concrete ditch (nee Los Angeles River) was about ten feet deep going 20 mph.

Biggest problem is universal. Dumb folks think anything with wheels can get through a little water. That has been a trueism since horse and buggy days.

Man, it's been friggin' pouring here in San Diego! Started Saturday night. It was raining so hard it woke me up.
On Sunday, during a few hour respite of rain, I went and picked up my T5 tranny that's goin' in the '65. I'm anxious to get started but, the only manual labor I've been doin' is piling up sandbags in front of my garage to keep the rain out!

Ya know, out here, on the left coast, it is just sad when it rains...not sad that it rains, but sad the way people and our infrastructure reacts to it. Put a little moisture on the road and no one can drive any more. Drop a ½ inch of rain and half the storm drains plug up and the streets flood. What would be a summer shower in the rest of the country is a freaking disaster out here.

That is the way it is here on the 3rd coast when it happens to snow or ice up. All the trucks seem to head straight for the ditches and land on top of the cars already there. :rolleyes:

If you ever want to see a comedy on wheels just watch traffic on an icy Houston street. Does not happen often but when it does it pays to just leave the truck in the garage and turn on the ole gas logs.

I'm just hoping that my new hillside doesnt end up in the gully... I've already got a bunch more dirt in the low parts of the yard, which is kuhl, because now i dont have to move it myself... oh well, only time will tell.

San Bernadino has there Emergency Ops center up for this... must be a doosey...

Here on the East coast (Florida) after dealing with four hurricanes this season, I can feel your pain. I guess I should feel grateful that we get a fair warning here before a major storm hits, and some time to batten down the hatches. Hope you folks on the West coast get a decent forecast so you can deal with Mother Nature and secure your stuff in time. I put the plywood away after the last storm (Hurricane Jeane) and don't think I'll need it until next year.

Tonym, how it be,,,guess you guys will not play soccer this week-end.

Wednesday and Thursday were dry. Another one heading this way though. If it hits after noon Saturday we can still play soccer. I bet the fields recovered from what we had early in the week. Which wasn't really that bad where I live. Good amount of rain and wind but it has been quiet again since.
I lit the heater though, it got chilly in the morning.
