I started my wheels project this week..I bought a couple of rims and found a place to do the sandblasting. I'm left with the two 15 inch rims on the back of the truck and the 4 16s are now in the tire shop.

I picked out tires...I went to my local tire garage instead of the national chain or Sam's Club. Good plan...local guy made a couple of phone calls and made a recommendation. The size I was asking for was on the money. His tire was as cheap or cheaper than the other places. Best part was he had no problem dismounting the tires and giving me the rims back for a month to get the rims blasted and powder coated. He even promised to not scratch the powder coating...The guys at the other places would not have even helped me knowing the tire was the "wrong" application.

Support your good FLAPS and Tire shops...

This portion of the project is pretty spendy....I'll be using up my truck budget in the first 2 weeks of 05. Ouch.

Here is what I started with. I am working with a pretty cool company that is doing my powder coating. I live 70 miles from their door. They had a delivery truck going through the town I work in. I met the deliver truck. It was a semi..the powder coating company picked up my rims, will deliver them to the sandblasting company, pick them back up, powder coat them and deliver them back to me....for $175....They saved me 4 trips.

Man...ya gotta love GREAT service!!

More to follow next Thursday. 90% Gloss black...

Any of you Minnesota bolters looking for a place to get your stuff powder coated, let me know...the place is from the north Metro. The folks are friendly and easy to work with.

$135 for the whole works...sandblasting, powder coating...I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Tires are being put on today...

Very Cool 46!

The local guy here doesn't have much to say, other than $70 a wheel
I could probably buy some new wheels for that.

46... Those are some nice looking wheels. Are you going to be using the chrome trim rings again? They would really offset that shiny new black!

No point powder coating the rims if you are going to use the trim rings. They really scratch the paint up.
