The brake pedal seems to return in slow motion. Is there a return spring on the brake pedal arm for a '45 half ton? What gives? Thanks, john. | | |

You should have a return spring for the pedal somwhere by the lower part of the pedal under the cab and going toward the side of the block or the frame close to the exhaust pipe about the level of the top edge of the oil-pan and bottom edge of the block.

#16851 09/19/2002 1:41 PM | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 9 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 9 | new rubber pistons in the master need a little break in I imagine, but the worst offender is usually gack on the master cylinder cylinder walls, a gum that can be sticky and slow things up. Or, a wimpy return spring. As well, I imagine if the ports in the master cyl.piston or housing are restricted by even a tiny speck of debris, then the return will be slow as well.

My pedal is slow if I put the parking brake on- the return springs on the shoes are important.

So a few seconds after accelerating form a stop the brake finally frees it's self from the floor board and BAM!! returns to "normal", then my wife usually asks WHAT WAS THAT?!?!. :confused: huh? what? oh, that noise.... transmission, fell out dear. as I keep driving around the lake. 
Yes, officer it's licensed.

This must be clear to assist rreturn of fluid. There is also an adjustment to make sure the port is open vis-a-vis the piston assembly. Refer to your master shop manual. | | |
