How is my 1941 3/4 ton's gas pedal mounted to the floor? I have what I was told is the original gas pedal. It has a ball socket at the top which looks like it will snap over the ball end on the linkage rod. At the other end is a triangular metal plate with several holes. This plate is riveted to the pedal. My question is what goes between it and the floor. There are two holes in what appears to be the correct spot, but they do not match up with the plate on the pedal. There must have some kind of hinge here.

Kip, I'm thinking you may not have a stock pedal.

The pedals I've seen and the one that's in my 46 don't sound at all the same to what you're describing. Could there be that much difference between a 41 and a 46?

The one I have has a pin that runs through the bottom, hinging it to the floor. The pin is held in place with a cotter pin at the end.

About 3/4 of the way up the backside of the pedal, it has a spot for the end of the accelerator linkage rod that comes through the firewall.

The end of the linkage rod sits in a slot on the back of the pedal that has two holes, one on each side of the rod. One of these (passenger side as you look down at the pedal from the seat) is threaded. The rod itself is held in place on the back side of the pedal by a pointed (machined) screw, that runs through the pedal and the rod into the other (threaded) hole.

There are a couple of NOS pedals just listed on E-Bay tonight. I don't believe they show the backsides, but might be something to look at to see if you're even close.

They're listing it as being 41-42, so maybe there is a difference between a 41 and a 46???

The pedal on my 42 1/2 is hinged to the toeboard.

Are you sure your not drining a F**d. I understand your explanation and as you say mine is totally different. Now its probably me that doesn’t know what I’m driving. Turns out that my ’41 has a ’49 engine, so who knows where the linkage rod and pedal came from? I looked at the photo on eBay and my pedal is not the same shape. My linkage rod does have a complete ball on the pedal end.

I’m beginning to believe I may have some kind of after market pedal as it has 5 different ball sockets at the top, and a star shaped trademark with a “K” inside the star at the bottom.

Oh well I think I’ll just add a bracket to the floor (toe) board using the original bolt holes and make a pin hinge. It was never going to be a show car anyway.

Kip - You have the correct gas pedal. The 41 and 46 pedals are different. My buddy has a 41 1/2 ton and his gas pedal is as you have described. Much different than my 46. unfortunately I'm not sure how it's hooked to the floor. I think there is some kind of hinge bolted to the floor.

Not much help solving your problem but at least you know have the correct pedal.
