This glove box is eating me up!

Now that I know the geometry of how it supposed to fit inside the glove box cavity, how do you attach the thing?

I carefully removed the old screws and the spring "nuts" that the screws go into. I see how they attached the glove box but how did they get those spring "nuts" to stay in position while they screwed in the glove box screws? They were located on the underside of the lip and there is no way to get your finger in there to hold them while you rotate the screws.

Where are you at here in Cove?? I'm over off S116 By Martin Walker school. Maybe I could stop by and see if I could give you a hand with the box.

Are you talking about the small clip that acts as a catch when the glovebox door is closed? I used a pair of needlenose plyers to get that bugger in ... worked out easy enough.

I am referring to those spring steel nuts that fit on the backside of the glove box mounting holes. The mounting screws go through the box then the metal lip and then must have a nut in order for the screw to tighten. These spring nuts have a hole large enough for the screw to fit and act as sheet metal nuts. There are 6 (three on top and three on the bottom) required to attach my glove box.

I don't know if it's "correct," but I found it much easier to slide the clips on the cardboard, then slip the cardboard outside the metal tabs in the dash opening and insert the screws. The spring clips can't twist out of the way if they're locked on the edge of the cardboard box; and you can gently press on the box to help line up the clips with the screw holes.
