Found that Quick Roof stuff that Alan Horvath recomends for your doors to get rid of the twang...Got it at a RV center...6" X 33' for $32.00

Supply Co here in N.O. 504 831-8781 comes in roll
18"x33.5' for $46.99 P/Tax Really is good stuff.lol I did both doors firewall under dash and all around and still have some left over. The good part about it is the hotter it gets the better it sticks. No smell so far. Good Luck with yours.

How did you get it in the doors?

Well, I kind of improvised...expect to get some scratches...the stuff comes in 6" wide rolls, so you have to cut it between 35" and 36" long..I started at the lock side and ran two pieces vertically..The next piece will run into a square sheet metal box, I couldn't get it to go behind it, so I cut a piece to go up from the bottom and a piece to go down from the top..From there, I ran a piece horizontally across the bottom so I only had to deal with shorter pieces going vertically from there to the front..It's really hard to get to up there, but if you take your time and not get too frustrated, it'll go in..Note: Expect to get your arm stuck in the bottom hole more than once..It is worth it though! You know I may be in luck, the more I thought about it I realized the P.O. had cut speaker holes into the doors and I removed those speakers.

When you get the pieces tacked in place use a wallpaper roller to seal it down... that helped me a lot in my doors. I also used it on my floors before I put the jute padding down. BTW, Home Depot or the like carries the stuff in the roofing section for about $24 if I remember correctly.

Guess I should have read Larry Bear's post a little further, Home Depot it is. Sounds like I can get the Quick Roof, Jute padding and the spray can adhesive all there.

This jute padding, is it like the sound/heat deadener? I just don't know the names, and I'll be doing my carpet soon.

Saw in the Truck Shop catalog that they have two different kinds..Heat Shield jute padding and regular jute padding..The Heat Shield is good for -40F to 700F, It has an aluminum coating on either one or two sides

home depot has a jute and aluminum rolls for 19.95 in the water heater dept. looks just like what they sell in the catalogs for as much as 79.00. saw it use on trucks program for the truck he calls copperhead. i used it on my ceiling and made a big differance, my truck is black the heat gain was terrible until in installed the stuff. RON

You don't have to go crazy getting a wall-to-wall fit in your doors with the Quick-Roof.

When I first started mine, I tested the door after I had only ONE strip of Quick-Roof inside and it was unbelievable with only that one 36-inch strip!

It is tough getting to all points ... I have a couple of "gap spots" inside my doors, but it's meaningless.

When I carpeted my interior floor, I furst put down the sound deadner. It has adhesive on one side and aluminum on the other. But the "kit" only has enough to do part of the floor, which seeemd weird to me. So I bought the roof stuff to finish up the floor and do under the seat. I also bought the jute padding set. It's the under-carpet grey padding, just like in your home. It provides cushion and additional sound deadner. But like the other stuff they only give you enough to do part of the floor so I went to a carpet place with a small piece of what I had to match the thickness and bought more for like $20. I used 3M77 Adhesive to put it down. But before I glued it I ran wires for future speakers underneath it.

The padding that I bought from Brothers wasn't cut quite right... didn't even have a cut to allow for the break peddle! So it required a fair amount of doctoring to get it to sit right.

i installed the jute toward the roof. i have seen it used in many application in magazines the same way. lowes has a insulation in the lumber part that have aluminum on both sides and a bubble wrap in between. comes in two sizes. LARRY BEAR, on trucks program the carpet for his 66 was short about 6 inches and he did the same thing went to a carpet store. as far as the brake peddle some people have hanging peddles and don't need the cut out. Ah, ha so that explains the lack of hole cut out. The sales rep at Brothers thought I was flashing. One thing for certain, the carpet kit I got was cut wrong for sure. The cut out for the door wells was off by 4" on one side. The guy who's going to install it said it was no big deal to fix. Can't wait to get the carpet in then the interior is finished.... for now!
