Save yourself some grief and order the correct mounting screws at the same time. As for structure, it's a hunk of plastic with a honeycomb interior. By design, they take a downward force better than a pull, and I wouldn't hang from one. You can use it as a door pull if your doors are aligned and latch easily, but I have seen many break around the mounting screw from slamming the door. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 | The trick to making them last a long time is pull the door closed but stop pulling when the door slams shut  Seriously, pull on the handle to get the door moving but let off on the pull as the door comes closed. (just like a quarter-mile race, HAMMER ON and let off ) Like Hedgehog says, keep the latches and hinges adjusted and like I say, don`t use the arm-rest door pull to pull the door THROUGH the door opening

One set came with an installation template and a set of very sturdy screws (I think Chevy Duty). If your hinges and latches are good and your door is hung properly (big ifs), and if people follow Mechainiac's closing instructions, the arm rests are quite sturdy. Tim | | |
