And is the cable actually for a 46 application? That will be easy if that's the case. My '36 cable on the transmission end uses a keyed design that doesn't insert into the T5 and I don't know where things changed along the way, so not sure what works with what.
Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 452 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 452 | If you are going onto a t5 forget about “original”, it will only confuse you because a T5 is (likely) different than stock. I’ll send a picture or 2 of the cable/ends but I’m not near my shop/truck for a few days. Yes I believe The Speedo end is sq drive. You can look up 1982 S10 Speedo cables as a starting point.

My '36 speedometer takes a 7/8-18 screw cap, and my '85-86 S10 T5 also takes a 7/8-18 screw cap with the .104 drive pin. I called Classic Parts and confirmed the transmission end is the correct screw cap and drive pin size for a T5. The problem may be the length, though. I might be able to just barely get it there by running it straight to the transmission, across open space, but it may be tight and could come into the transmission at a hard angle. I'd much rather run it along the frame rail and over, so I'm going to have a custom cable made from this place. https://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/speedo.aspEDIT: Ordered from this place instead. Much cheaper. https://www.speedoservice.com/contact/

I called him yesterday, and he called today telling me it's done, boxed, and will be shipped by the end of the day. Custom cable made and shipped for less than the price of the Filling Station or Classic Parts even before shipping costs, and a foot longer. Real nice guy too. Didn't get it yet, so I'll post any issues if I have them, but I don't anticipate any. https://www.speedoservice.com/contact/
