You can find all sorts of good info about braking systems at ECI Hotrod brakes

i installed a dual setup this summer on my 54 3100 i wish i had installed the proportioning valve at the time. i still have lock up problems but i have disc/drum setup. cost wise they run about the same. brotherstrucks.com, fatfendered are two places. hope this helps. i try to say money and usually cost me more in the long run. i had professionals to it and still have problems. but they did what i asked. ron

Used a combination valve out of a 1980 1/2 ton pickup in my 54 1/2 ton. Got it at the auto wreckers. The combination valve gives you the residual valve, proportioning valve and warning light all in one unit. I did some braking tests and it seems to work OK.

On my 1 1/2 ton with the original drum brakes all around, I used a master cylinder for a 66 Pontiac Catalina that also ran 4 wheel drum brakes. Didn't use a prop valve and it drives as it is supposed to (for a 1948 truck),

OOPS. Just reread your post. You did say drum/drum. In that case you do NOT want the combination valve I was talking about. Sorry.

48flatbed were did you tap in for the vacum you need on the booster? I'm not up and running yet and not sure the 4brl holley PVC port or manifold riser port will give me a good 18in needed for the booster....

Drum/Drum shouldn't need a proportioning valve. If you need to adjust brake bias you do it by changing the bore of the wheel cylinders.
