Planning ahead to rewiring my dash gauge lights, the wire insulation is just too brittle to use. I would like to keep the existing sockets but would like to replace the wire. The brass contacts are crimped on to the wire. I tried removing them, thinking I could solder them to the new wire, but I was unable to undo the crimps releasing the wire. I know I can buy new sockets with pigtails but wondered if there is a source for just the brass contacts with a short pigtail wire.

I know this issue has been encountered before so I’m asking the collective what your fix was.

I’ve got some of the little nubbins you can crimp or solder on a wire yourself.

PM me.

Thanks all for your help (especially JW51’s generous offer). I knew the collective would come thru!

I ordered the crimp on ones that Ron Francis offered. I really like that style crimp on, and it will make it easier in the long run. The shipping was more than the cost of the item, ouch, but at this point in my build, whats a few more dollars!

I actually have a whole assortment box of NOS Packard connectors of all shapes and sizes. Like a lifetime supply. If anyone needs anything oddball, it’s worth at least asking.

Once I found the Ron Francis stuff, it became my go-to. One continuous wire from source to terminal, like factory, for a clean wiring job that doesn't have any moisture susceptible joints.
