Can someone tell me how big the diameter is on the center rod on a '38 steering column?

I have an electric power unit from a Chevy Equinox I want to install. My column had the outer shaft on it so I can't measure the actual rod down the middle. I would guess that it's 3/4 but I want to be sure so I can order the 'D' connectors.
