I have a 1953 Chevy truck and I installed a later model 235 with a short shaft water pump but I feel like the fan sits on the lower side of the radiator. I bought the radiator with the adjustment holes so it is as low as it will go . I feel like the fan should be more centered and a little higher . If I let the truck sit to long at idle it will start getting to 220 . Is there any think I can do or to use a better fan other than the original 4 blade ?

Given you location, you’re facing a very typical overheating issue that arises using a shortened stock style water pump on a 235 swap into your truck.

A better solution is to use an adaptor plate (and the original 216 water pump), designed by a fellow Member Pre ‘68 Dave and offers a pump relocation kit that will put the water pump in the correct "sweet" spot for getting that engine in your truck and providing the best cooling. Check out his website for a ton of great info 235's and the relocation kit!

Sal - Here's Pre '68 Dave's specific blog page discussing his Water Pump Relocation Adapter. Just what the Dr ordered to help resolve your overheating issues. wink

Send him a PM and he can get you set up with his relocation adapter. smile
