I have a portable forced air heater. similar to a reddy heater. It quit while on loan to Brother in law. I took it apart replaced the rotor, cleaned the spark plug. Now it runs while I have the top cover off but cuts off within a minute or so of putting cover back in place. tried adjusting pressure screw but no change. suggestions?

run it with the cover off?
never loan anything to the bro again?

the cover being on is causing something to overheat and there's overheat protection, either for the motor or the burner .... which may be getting weak

On my Reddy Heater, if the filter is plugged up, the unit cuts out. A new filter set solved the problem for me.

Thanks for the input. The heater will run for hours with the cover off but shuts down within a few minutes when I slide the cover fully in place. thought about running without cover but don't like the fan blades being exposed if some one else is around or the heated funnel either.

Same thing happend to me. I could run the thing with a 1/2 in crack between the body and cover. I changed the filter, no help. Of all darn things I put new kerosene in it and it fired right up. Can't explain that but the fuel was about 1 yr old.

ok I'll try draining it. the other heater runs on the fuel but this one had been seting longer. since i didn't need it right away

I'm with Bill...hidden in there somewhere is a thermal switch that is telling the unit it is too hot and needs to shut down. Although they don't cycle much, these switches can go bad. If it isn't a bad switch, then maybe something is blocked/plugged that is allowing hot air to enter that covered space and overtemp the heater when the cover is installed.

Don't know why but mine started working fine now.

There is a air pump, or blower to atomize the kerosene to make a fuel air mixture to burn. sometimes the air pump orifice becomes plugged and needs to be cleaned out with compressed air. This usually will fix the problem. Had same problem before. Not enough atomization and will only burn when not as much air blowing over it. Thus the flame goes out when you have all of the air concentrated with the cover on.

Get new plug.Plug insullators become saturated and allow conductivity to ground.

Another thought.The orface may have picked up some trash and not atomizing correctly.These can be taken out and cleaned, Has two hoses to it keep up whith where each goes. One is air other is suction.
